Some guy in Lakewood is offering lots of cash if you let him buy out yourt lease. All he needs is 31 days notice.

He offered me close to 10K for a minivan. He said he would send a truck to pick it up.

Anybody know how this works? Sound ligit?

I would you suggest you buy a cheap working junk car/van on craigslist that will last year a half year / year.. until the prices come down

Or a car for 4-5k that will last a while.

Facebook marketplace IME is a lot more active then Craigslist.

Pick a model & year that you want and then set an alert for new listings.

Take the car to a mechanic before you buy.

Those almost never make sense. Residual is much lower and interest is much higher, plus no incentives, so you end up paying much more, and you are usually out of the bumper to bumper warranty by then.

When makes the most sense to buy out the car when the lease ends or half year before?

extend and push off as long as possible  Time Value of Money PV=\frac{FV}{(1+r)}
When makes the most sense to buy out the car when the lease ends or half year before?

It doesn't matter really, as the price of the buyout is set at the beginning ..

I heard that some banks will not let you buy off for the original buyout price set on the contract if you extend the lease past the original expiration date
I’m in shape, round is a shape…

Just confirmed on the phone with Nissan, if you extend they reset the buyout off market pricing, not residual.

if it's set at the beginning and I buyout a year before then I would save $ because I can save a year lease $, is that correct?

No you would owe the remaining months payments plus the buyout price

I don't know who's paying the most, but you can reach out to Sheya from Alliance Auto Leasing https://www.allianceal.com/
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Price everyone out but iinm Volvos are hard to sell. IIRC you may have to be getting a new one to be able to sell it.
