On a leased Altima, it's decent.

Interesting.  Is it generally more expensive to insure a lease than an owned vehicle?

Yes, as there are mandatory coverages required.

Collision and comprehensive are required for a lease. But if you own a relatively new car I would say you need those anyway.

yes, I know, my family has thus far had around 8 accords, we have two right now that the leases are up soon, thinking one in the accord range, one in the civic range, but open to others, one for sure just want the best possible deal for a decent extra car (hence the civic)

Just get a quote from insurance before you lease the Civic as rates tend to be higher on the Civic over the Accord especially if the person leasing it is a younger age. (Civic is a teenage car)

When I was looking into my first lease at 22 the difference I got quoted in insurance between the Accord (Lower) and Civic (Higher) basically cancelled out the price difference on the 2, making the Accord the obvious choice.
