I'd venture to say that 80+% of the world's wealthiest people did some egregiously dirty and illegal things to get where they are now.

so i hear what hes saying. i know a couple who lives here in IL and the boys family is one of the wealthiest most well respected jews in NY (trying to be vauge) and he wont give a penny to his kids sitting and learning. i happen to know this guy is very self centered and is a jerk....yet the girls father just sold his company for 200+ mill and u woudl never even know it from the way they all act... so it just goes to show

but as PG stated, i know billionaires, yes, my FIL community is made of a few extremely wealthy ppl! there are ppl with hedge-funds, jewlery, dr's, lawyers and so on. i can say at least 2 in the billions, these guys have it all, yatchs, mansions all over the world, helicopters, private planes, and one a jewish camp :-) and yet, they are the nicest ppl i know! i think nitanel a big problem stems from the frum-ness of it all. what happens is, a lot of frum ppl get burned bec of all the organizations and such dont stop harassing them. and i think they just get sick of it all and feel everyone is after there money. but of course theres always the opposite which is very true! theres a frum yeshivish person who made it huge and all he does now a days is try to find property to build up certain areas to yeshicva life/working and has rent control so no one will take advt of the prices.

I disagree with making such an overly generalized statement about rich people. I know many super wealthy individuals who are amazing on a personal level. Obviously there are other super wealthy individuals who are just terrible.

To me, if a person is super aggressive and not a mensch outside of their business affairs, it has nothing to do with being rich, it's because the person if fundamentally not a good person. What I think does happen sometimes though is you'll have people who hold themselves to one standard in their personal affairs, but behave differently in their business dealings. So they may get a (well deserved) bad rep because of how they act in their business, but they rationalize it thinking, I'm a good person but in business you do what you have to to make money.

I agree with OP.  I'm sick and tired of the 1% ruling over the 99%.  It's about time we have some justice around here.  I know a multi-billionaire who pays less in tax than his secretary!!  These people think that because of a few good ideas and some good luck, they're entitled to buy anything they can afford.  Well I've had it.  It's about time these people start paying my student loans.

The nastiest people I know happen to be poor.  I see no correlation between being nasty and rich.  Nasty and poor - yes.

R' Elimelech of Lizhensk actually gave a bracha to his einiklach that they should be poor. He reasoned that the nisayon of being rich is far far greater than being poor.

 Clearly the OP has a point, years and years of everybody around you treating you with deference,being in charge, always getting your way and people dancing around and kissing up to you WILL ultimately change you, UNLESS you consciously and actively fight it vigorously. (as Jimmy Hendrix said "money makes people funny")

 That being said i have several close friends who have exemplary midddos and are amazingly nice and follow halacha and torah guidance to the T despite being ridiculously wealthy
