Some family friends just stayed at the Westin Rome and said it was one of their best. They are pretty well traveled and stay in some nice places.
Never heard anyone else rave about it so much though.

Luxury is hard to define, as for me it encompasses luxurious facilities/grounds and luxurious service...

Off the top of my head here are 20 hotels from most luxurious to lesser so (though still arguably luxurious) that are/were bookable with points:

PH MEL
PH EZE
PH CDG
PH ZRH
The Plaza NYC (Fairmont)
GH LIH
SR Princeville
SR Bal Harbour
Fairmont Kea Lani OGG
Fairmont Pacific Rim YVR
Fairmont Copley Plaza BOS
W HKG
SLS Beverly Hills
Andaz 5th Ave
Westin Moana Surfrider HNL
Westin Europa VCE
Herrod's Vitalis Spa Eilat
Mamilla Jlem

Not going to insult the other hotels by including the PH Aviara, PH YYZ, HR Huntington Beach, HR OGG, HR AUA etc.

For me the Conrad Koh Samui was the nicest hotel we've stayed in, but as far as surrounding aesthetics, it doesn't touch MLE.

If the Conrad KS was in MLE, it'd have been heaven.

Next up? Conrad MLE :)

The service at the PH MEL was just impeccable, the suite upgrades we got were insane, they have a great Park lounge which is unfortunately quite rare, there is a massive pool and gym, and they gave the best kosher brekkie anywhere.
