Secure Emails

Anyone know a free way to set up a secure email system for sending sensitive information (ss#, etc.)?
If you don't care why would you comment?

Thanks. Is there an easier way?

I've received emails where, instead of having the SS# in the email, I have to click a link to retrieve it.  Anyone know how to do this?

Not sure if this would help but in the past I've used a firefox PGP extension. Just share your public key to the other person and you got secure email.
