On a side note, I heard a story once that one time alitalia didn't lose someone's luggage. You don't have to believe it but it's really true. Alitalia is extremely apologetic about that incident

Lol! I took 4 flights with them and was very happy with them until this last incident. Nu nu.

Never heard of this... I just booked mom on an Al Italia from Venice to Rome (FCO) where she has a scheduled to hours to get her luggage and "connect" to a separate itinerary Rome (FCO) --> BOS

Maybe I'll advise her to carry insurance and carry on that leg... Though I guess it's the way home so NBD. Interesting.

I booked a flight almost a year ago using an Amex card that I later closed. So now I have no CC protection for when they lose my luggage. I have flight next week. Any tips?

Put a gps tracker in your suitcase.

Amazing, my luggage wasn't lost. However, some Heimishe family took my suitcase by mistake. Lucky for me they realized only an hour later.

I got $500 from chase by using my sapphire for my stroller which they lost for 6 days.

Better then Amex? Or similar? I assume they will also honor the credit they provide if your luggage shows up later on. Also, do you call it in or is it a "I lost it and will buy stuff and tell them later" scenario?
