Trouble with printer
« on: March 21, 2012, 09:29:41 AM »
i recently bought an hp printer from staples.
http://www.staples.com/HP-Photosmart-Premium-Fax-e-All-in-One-Printer/product_887519_HC2?catalogId=10051&fromUrl=home&currentUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.staples.com%2F&cmSearchKeyword=cq521a&cmArea=SEARCH&langId=-1&storeId=10001&ddkey=http:StaplesSearch

It was the last one in the store and was a display item. They gave it to me for $70.
After emailing staples to complain it didn't come with a starter ink set, I was given a $30 staples voucher.
When I went back to staples to apply the voucher to the printer, they took off another $20, so I got the printer for $50-$30=$20.
The problem is it is not printing. I ordered one set of knock off ink from ebay and another set from amazon. Only the pink ink cartridges are working.
My question is, has anyone had experience with HP regarding their warranty service. Should I try to file a warranty claim with HP or just return teh whole think to staples. (That would be a shame because it was a great deal. :(  )

My Brother said "toner low," so I put in a new toner and behold, it still says "toner low." Anyone know what to do about this?

I recall that with other printers the machine will ask if you replaced the ink. Perhaps you need to input that you changed the toner.

With HP it will sometimes give an Error that it can't detect a genuine cartridge. There is a way to press some buttons in a specific combination to enter a hidden menu to override this. Dont know it off hand, but Google the exact error message and you will see the solution.

I had the same issues a while back and don't remember exactly what I had to do. BUT, if you google the printer support there is a site that gives you all the exact combinations of lights that may tell you something. I hope this helps

Sometimes an expired toner will give you that message as well.

Did you try cleaning the corona wire?
That's that little slide on the toner.

If removing the toner and the drum doesn't work, there's a trick for brother printers which allows them to print even after low toner.
If I'm not mistaken on your printer the steps are as follows.

On the printer press menu, 1 then 8. It should continue printing till ot gets a message Toner ended.

Or you can try scribbling permanent marker on the toner window

This error message never disabled printing. Well, never yet...

8 gives me the option to replace toner, however the "low toner" message still appears.

2 year old post, I know.
Do you know where the window is on a TN-630 for a Brother HL-L2320D?

ETA: My last reset using the 'press the 'go' button 7 times rapidly' must have worked.  It looked like it didn't work, so I wrote this and another post asking for help. I guess it needed time to rest and turn off it's 'need toner' light.
I'd still love to know where the sensor window is, but my printer is now working without installing a new cartridge of toner.
