Hyatt suite upgrade
« on: June 26, 2013, 12:02:46 AM »
Is there any chance realistically of being able to get a complementary upgrade (Hyatt Kauai Hawaii) to a suite if booking a regular free night room?

Prepared to slip a bill into the check in clerks hand if it'll actually do something.

They will usually give it back if they can't get you something nice or if they are on the more ethical side.

What is the going rate?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

That was going to be my next question.

I've heard $20 but I'd feel cheap.
Was thinking $50.

Is it really considered as standard practice to slip a bill when checking in as people make it out to be?
I just want to make sure it won't be a chillul Hashem. I'm clearly an Orthodox Jew. Black hat and all, an I'd rather not do it at all if it could be a chillul Hashem.

I once did, it
First she gave it back to me, you dropped this.
Then I said na, it's for you.
She replied thank you, and gave me a standard room :(

Was the "you dropped this" a universal coed for I can't do anything?

You should have gone back after you saw the room and told her-- she was right --I did drop that fifty

Should've been more clear what it was for or what you wanted.

Do people say that? "That's for you if you can get me a nicer room"

I've only done it in Vegas once (bellagio)
Sandwiched a $20 between the CC and DL
Simply asked if she would be able to help me get a suite.

Saying that you dropped this is probably indeed code that they cant help you or that you should've done a $50 instead of a $20 :D

I can just see the confusion now if the clerk thought it really was dropped the first time when all of a sudden he "drops" even more money ;)

This article sounds like it will help.

Thanks.

I was aware of that article. But its in the paper and may or may not be true. I'm skeptical of that kind of stuff.

Wanted to hear from real people with real experience.

Officially platinum - gold passport members can get complimentary room upgrades when available, for rooms booked with free nights.

Does anyone have experience with how often / readily they are actually available, and how much they'd upgrade complementarily?  (One level up vs upgrading to a suite - triple the vale of basic room)

Very unlikely into a sure if you're not Diamond (you'll have better luck asking in advance)

How does one go about doing that?

I asked the gold passport CSR while booking the room, they said they can't upgrade room, u have to ask when checking in.
