True, but signs in LA are notoriously confusing...probably to trip you up and slap you with a $$$ ticket.

It really depends on the block. There are blocks within a 10 minute walk that has no permit parking restrictions, but be very careful. Most blocks have permit parking which limits you to two hours and no overnight parking. Read all signs carefully! You can try at Beverly Drive south Pico Boulevard to start.

I have know idea if they'll tow but Beverly Drive south of Pico has permit free parking. All the blocks north of Pico have permit parking. If you're lucky you can get a spot closer than Ralphs and without the uphill walk.

That's what i was planning on doing. I also have some friends living in the area i could park by if necessary.

Keep in mind permits are usually block specific.

I meant that i would use their driveways, but i have always been extra careful since that one time in NYC...

True.  South of Cashio has no permits. Meters are a good idea just not in Beverly Hills (part of the street) as they forbid overnight parking. Also check for meter hours. Many are enforced till 9:00pm or later.

I  will be traveling (with my wife)  the last week in July to San Diego for three nights  (Sun-Tue) in the Coronado area at Loews.  Then I'm planning to travel Wed  to Palm Springs.  Stay there two nights.  Then travel Friday morning from PS  to LA  and stay at  Residence inn in pico for shabbos and till Monday night's  red eye flight back to Brooklyn.  This is my first CA  trip so I'm just wondering if I'm overdoing it.  Is this too much traveling?

I don't know of you're traveling too much but palm springs in July is asking for trouble, unless you wanna just stay inside. What do you like to do? Beaches? Hiking? Planning on going to sea world? Sd zoo? Disney?

+1 Although if you to up the mountain on the arial tram it's about 30 degrees cooler up there. Also, the only way PS will be enjoyable in the summer is if you rent a villa with a private pool so you both can just chill there all day. Forget about any outdoor activities day or night, it's just too hot.

That flight I was talking about was LAX-BNA stopover for an hour and then to LGA (first class using AA)
It is hot I guess in PS but we did get a beautiful rental with a pool etc.
Planning to do Sea World, Biking and boating in Coronado, and La Jolla Cove.
In PS thinking about the tram (to cool off!) Thursday night fair and basically enjoy our pool.
Shabbos in Pico. Universal on Sunday and not sure about Monday yet.

i was just in universal studios last week and it was really nice i must say. i enjoyed it. I got the fast track pass for a little more, and it was well worth it, we didnt wait in any line while there was a 10-40 min wait in some places.  (btw theres an app that will tell u how much wait time is by every show/attraction)
if you go in the morning it may not be worth the pass, but we went at around 4pm so to get stuff done until 8 when they close u  need it.
