   [th]Supervision[/th]
Tierra Sur At Herzog Winery in Oxnard 5/5 stars-The menu here is constantly changing but is always amazing.  The flavors you will try here are unlike any you will get at another kosher restaurant in the world.
Oxnard -

La Gondola4.5/5 stars
-Avocado eggrolls to die for (I had it and I didn't like it
I can't eat Avocado when it's warm, I'm sure others can't too-Sillypainter).  Great Bread with garlic margarine on the house(agree-Sillypainter) Great Gondola Burger special for lunch with excellent pasta or a soup.  And the Chai Steak with Carmelized Steak Sauce and arguably the best kosher ribs out there.   I'm getting hungry thinking about this place!
Pico

Meatos - https://meatos.us/

http://charcoalgrillbar.com/

Shiloh's4/5 stars
-Great baby back ribs and peppercorn steak.  They serve steaks with a number of dipping sauces which is pretty cool.  Also had some delicious key lime pie.
I did have a bad experience here with really bad food though...and service can be poor here as well.
Beverly Hills Thai4/5 stars-It can get very crowded so it's best to make a reservation in advance.
Jeff's 3.5/5 stars-Homemade onion rings, homemade sausages, Steak Sandwich, Western burger, lots of good and greasy stuff here.
PKD (Pico Kosher Deli)3.5/5 stars
-Excellent Deli-style food along with equally good homemade onion rings. No Reservations, but rarely more than a few minute wait. closes at 9 PM.
Pat's3/5 stars
-Either you love this upscale steakhouse or you hate it.  I used to hate it until my brother became good friends with the bartender.  Now when I go back with him we're treated to a feast for a king! Don't miss the bread pudding dessert!
Shanghai2.5/5 stars
-LA hasn't had very good Chinese since Sholom Cuisine closed.  This place is decent though.
Harissa4/5 stars-Home of the LA-famous pretzle challah! They offer Middle Eastern/Mediterranean/North African cuisine.  They have lots of seating and long hours.

Milk/Parve:

1. Fish Grill
4.5/5 stars
-The best fish you'll ever have, period.  I'm not such a fish person, but their Grilled Salmon on Angel Hair Pasta with a huge order of well-seasoned fries...YUM! Get the grilled salmon sandwich.

2. Milky Way Reopened, brand new place worth a visit
4/5 stars
-Steven Spielberg's adorable mom will come shmooze with you and show you his movie posters in the back.  Cheeze blintzes and lemon tart are awesome. Chimichangas, potato latkes, and more all at prices that haven't been raised in decades.

3. Pizza Nosh (Agoura Hills)
4/5 stars
-Excellent pizza and Eggplant Parmesean, worth a stop if you're in the area.

4. Pizza Mayven
4/5 stars
-Good plain pizza and excellent fries, and that's about it.

5. Nagila Pizza
3/5 stars
-Good but pricey stuffed crust pizza, and that's about it. There are some big fans of their Naco's out there as well.

6. Trattoria Natalie
4.5/5 stars
-A trattoria is translated from Italian as a tavern, and that's what this restaurant feels like.  They have a cool on-table feature: its a paging device with three bottons.  One botton calls for water, the other for the bill, the last for a waiter.  The food is very good and prices not too expensive.

7. Meshuga for Sushi/Meshuga for Sushi 2
4/5
-With 3 locations (one in La Brea, one in Pico, and one in the valley), they offer great sushi at reasonable prices.  They have some space to eat in the restaurant.  They have long hours and a decent lunch menu.

IF you eat non-CY:
-Sweet Rose Creamery, on Beverly is Kosher and considered some of the best ice cream in LA by foodies http://www.sweetrosecreamery.com/, usually have 4 or 5 non dairy flavors
-Toppings Frozen Yogurt 349 S Robertson Blvd, good frozen yogurt, usually have a non dairy flavor or two

If you eat CY:
-Milky's at 1429 S Robertson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90035 recently became kosher and is cholov yisrael.

Breakfast/Bakery:
1. Cafe Elite
4.5/5 stars
-Amazing cake/crumb donuts along with your usual breakfast food.

2. Schwartz Bakery/Circa NY
4/5 stars
-A great but expensive bakery.  The crumb cheese danish is a personal favorite, as is their wonderful Caramel cake and "kit kat" chocolate rice crispy bars.
They also now serve breakfast in their Pico and Fairfax location.  I had the combo Pancake+Waffle+Franch Toast meal with fruit salad that was very good.
On friday's only they sell raspberry cheese pockets - they always sell out of them early.

3. La Brea Bagel
3/5 stars
-Very good bagels with all kinds of toppings and other breakfast food.

4. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - 7235 Beverly Blvd
4/5 stars
-The only coffee bean in LA that has Cholov Yisroel upon request and offers 3 Pas Yisroel bakery items from Delice; Chocolate Almond croissant, Custard twist, and chocolate croissant - also upon request.

SHABBOS TAKE OUT OPTIONS

1. Ralph's - both the Pico and La Brea locations have a kosher section with takeout

4. Lieders La Brea: 129 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036

I've found that the traffic at LAX itself is pretty bad if you're  going ot an interior terminal especially. I'd add 5 minutes to get to the desired dropoff/parking lot on top of estimates to airport itself.

I was really asking the time from 4 points Sheraton near LAX to Pico minyan

That's one way to look at it. The other way is wasting $8-$12.

I would recommend the sheraton LAX (a bit far from Jewish area) pretty decent hotel. Parking is a fortune or you can park a block away for approx $14
Four points lax is also decent with expensive parking
Four points westside has free parking but I personally thought the hotel sucked big time!
Thanks!

Will look into the Sheraton LAX.

How about the Westin long beach?

It's further from LA obviously. That's a tough drive in if you plan on doing it daily.

I stayed at the Sheraton Gateway LA once on a cancellation. Huge hotel with decent pool area (nothing special) and with amenities the same as any sheraton u go to. Plus is if u have an SPG business card (or you're a plat) the lounge is decent during the week. was no surprises and fine for a family that needed some sleep and then a pool before getting on our flight.

While I have stayed in Sheraton gateway many times, and was always very clean and very accommodating staff for some reason the hotel always smelled from weed, but I guess in LA a lot of places do  ;)  Four point lax has a much larger pool but smaller rooms. Overall I guess Sheraton Gateway is the better choice. (if you have car park down the block)

If your gonna rent a car, Try Hertz by the Marriot LAX Vs Hertz Lax, much cheeper rates.

Today? The Pier will be extra crowded because it's Sunday. Why not go out to eat?

Can't help with hotel, was treated to the W Hollywood (as can be seen early in this thread not so recommended)
Regarding attractions; the ride down to San Diego was beautiful ( I would say drive late afternoon, so you get to drive along the coast during sunset) in San Diego you have sea world which is a full day and fun attraction, you have the zoo (which was nice but wouldn't run back) you have lots of small stuff like kayak rentals, segways and mini go carts rentals around the city. Kosher Food last summer there wasn't really any restaurants opened but in front of the shul there was a professional BBQ with great food! You also have Ralph's in la Jolla with 3 full kosher aisles and a kosher takeout, bakery and even a sushi chef!
In LA you have universal which was nice (a little pricey to take the Gate A passes but we'll worth it) we had a wonderful time at the Sony tour. The Hollywood home tours was really fun (if you know the celebrities they are referring to)
Food in LA is endless, but we hit up
La Gondola in Beverly hills and I would give it a 10/10
Jeff's sausages (might be a real man's place) but a 9/10
There's pats which is really nice and many many more!
Have a wonderful trip

Thank you so much for your advice and thank you Mendy from Lakewood, as well.

My kids voted not to go to San Diego. They don't really want to look at fish and we went the National Zoo in DC, so "been there, done that". When making my itinerary, I took into consideration that I will be the only driver and I would prefer not to drive more than an hour or so at a time. Also, the youngest child with us is 15. So here is my plan, what do you think?

We will land at LAX on Sunday at noon, rent a car (probably from Hotwire) and drive to Jewish area of LA to eat lunch/supper and buy food for the next day. If there is time, we might do a little touring - maybe The Grove or Rodeo Drive. Then we will drive down to Anaheim and stay at the Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance (paid with Chase Ultimate Rewards) in a balcony room with a view of the fireworks. This way we get to see the fireworks without having to buy a two day ticket.

Monday: we will do Disney AdventurePark. Then we will drive back to LA to SLS Beverly Hills. Since we already saw the fireworks, we can leave whenever we want.

Tuesday: we have tickets to watch Jeopardy (a game we play a lot on the Xbox) and then tour Sony. Not sure how long this will take, but after we will do LA tourist stuff - The Grove, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, (if we didn't do it on Sunday), maybe take a tour of celebrity homes (not that we know who they are! At least, I might know the older ones, but not my kids.)

Wednesday: Universal Studios. Will try for the Gate A passes, but might not be able to manage them.

Thursday: Santa Monica and whatever "water" activities look interesting. Maybe whale watching. I hope to find more about these options at the hotel, or if someone here can help? We are flying back on the red-eye Thursday night, so I thought we can drive up to Tierra Sur for supper and leave for the airport straight from there. I assume the drive should take about an hour.

I looked through the wiki for restaurants and I have La Gondola, Shiloh's and Pat's on my list for suppers. Not sure about breakfast/lunch, but the Wiki lists quite a number. Any recommendations for someplace that will pack up food for us to eat at Disney? And where can we find a kosher grocery?

One thing that concerns me is the parking. I read that parking in LA is difficult so I thought I might leave the car at the hotel and take a bus? Any other suggestions? Please bear in mind that there are five of us.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Not sure how long this will take The filming should take 3 hours, as they film 3 episodes with a wardrobe change in between each. Allow an extra 30 minutes at least before they begin to arrive and check in., but after we will do LA tourist stuff - The Grove, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, (if we didn't do it on Sunday), maybe take a tour of celebrity homes (not that we know who they are!

That really depends on the time of day. Allow 1.5 hours unless it's super late at night.

Delice, CircaNY (in Schwartz's) and Pico Cafe are all very good.

One thing that concerns me is the parking. I read that parking in LA is difficult so I thought I might leave the car at the hotel and take a bus? Any other suggestions? Please bear in mind that there are five of us. Overnight parking on certain streets with permit parking is hard. Daytime parking isn't too bad. Public buses are not the most efficient way to get around. You're better of driving and paying for parking (all meters accept CC)

Thanks in advance for your help.
