-Great baby back ribs and peppercorn steak.  They serve steaks with a number of dipping sauces which is pretty cool.  Also had some delicious key lime pie.
I did have a bad experience here with really bad food though...and service can be poor here as well.
Beverly Hills Thai4/5 stars-It can get very crowded so it's best to make a reservation in advance.

-The best fish you'll ever have, period.  I'm not such a fish person, but their Grilled Salmon on Angel Hair Pasta with a huge order of well-seasoned fries...YUM! Get the grilled salmon sandwich.

2. Milky Way Reopened, brand new place worth a visit
4/5 stars
-Steven Spielberg's adorable mom will come shmooze with you and show you his movie posters in the back.  Cheeze blintzes and lemon tart are awesome. Chimichangas, potato latkes, and more all at prices that haven't been raised in decades.

3. Pizza Nosh (Agoura Hills)
4/5 stars
-Excellent pizza and Eggplant Parmesean, worth a stop if you're in the area.

4. Pizza Mayven
4/5 stars
-Good plain pizza and excellent fries, and that's about it.

5. Nagila Pizza
3/5 stars
-Good but pricey stuffed crust pizza, and that's about it. There are some big fans of their Naco's out there as well.

6. Trattoria Natalie
4.5/5 stars
-A trattoria is translated from Italian as a tavern, and that's what this restaurant feels like.  They have a cool on-table feature: its a paging device with three bottons.  One botton calls for water, the other for the bill, the last for a waiter.  The food is very good and prices not too expensive.

7. Meshuga for Sushi/Meshuga for Sushi 2
4/5
-With 3 locations (one in La Brea, one in Pico, and one in the valley), they offer great sushi at reasonable prices.  They have some space to eat in the restaurant.  They have long hours and a decent lunch menu.

-Sweet Rose Creamery, on Beverly is Kosher and considered some of the best ice cream in LA by foodies http://www.sweetrosecreamery.com/, usually have 4 or 5 non dairy flavors
-Toppings Frozen Yogurt 349 S Robertson Blvd, good frozen yogurt, usually have a non dairy flavor or two


If you eat CY:
-Milky's at 1429 S Robertson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90035 recently became kosher and is cholov yisrael.

Breakfast/Bakery:
1. Cafe Elite
4.5/5 stars
-Amazing cake/crumb donuts along with your usual breakfast food.

2. Schwartz Bakery/Circa NY
4/5 stars
-A great but expensive bakery.  The crumb cheese danish is a personal favorite, as is their wonderful Caramel cake and "kit kat" chocolate rice crispy bars.
They also now serve breakfast in their Pico and Fairfax location.  I had the combo Pancake+Waffle+Franch Toast meal with fruit salad that was very good.
On friday's only they sell raspberry cheese pockets - they always sell out of them early.

3. La Brea Bagel
3/5 stars
-Very good bagels with all kinds of toppings and other breakfast food.

4. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - 7235 Beverly Blvd
4/5 stars
-The only coffee bean in LA that has Cholov Yisroel upon request and offers 3 Pas Yisroel bakery items from Delice; Chocolate Almond croissant, Custard twist, and chocolate croissant - also upon request.

1. Ralph's - both the Pico and La Brea locations have a kosher section with takeout

What I did in MIA was pull up at gate, check bags, send wife/baby through security, return car, go back to airport go through security myself.

At MIA I did that with maybe 80 minutes prior to departure and arrived at the gate myself 20 minutes prior doring the boarding process.  At most airports it would probably take 15-20 minutes less than MIA though.

I am going to LA for a wedding Thanksgiving weekend. The minyan and meals on Shabbos will be at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I am looking to stay at a hotel nearby that is not as pricey. Can anyone recommend a place?

I went to a wedding/SS weekend there. The balei simcha sponsored. If they can afford the place that hosts the Grammys (or whatever award show they have there), they ought to be able to provide some rooms for guests

You're thinking of the Beverly Hilton (where the Golden Globes are hosted), not the Beverly Hills Hotel. Also, I happen to know who the baalei simcha are, and I don't think anyone would appreciate being spoken about that way.

There are some other hotels not too far (i.e., Luxe Rodeo). Otherwise, if you are in good walking condition, you can stay at the standard Pico hotels (Crowne Plaza or Residence Inn) and do the walk in about 45 min or so (depending on how fast of a walker you are). It is a straight shot up through downtown BH on the walk over.

Which Sheraton are you talking about here? The Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel 6101 West Century Boulevard is a cat 2 - is that nicer than Westin LAX? or is it the sheraton delfina or the sheraton los angeles downtown?

Im arriving in LA and want to stay there for one day. What can I do in LA for one day?
Any good car rental rates for 10 days, returning at a different location?
Can I leave New York without any food, and count on the LA super market to buy everything  like nosh, breads, spreads, all kinds of food? Or is it much more expensive?
Which restaurant is the best in Los Angeles?

As far as food, you might be out of luck. LA doesn't have much to offer. You might want to consider bringing it with you. I apologize on behalf of all LA'ers. It's not our fault, we just live in the wild wild west.

I hope you do enjoy your stay though and be sure to stock up on pretzels from the plane.

I think Dan got my point. DDF isn't meant to spoon feed information. For crying out loud, LA and food? Who hasn't read the trip reports aka...La Gondola's Spring Rolls, Caesar salad and BBQ Ribs?

Or, Fish Grill's Angel Hair Pasta w/ Grilled Salmon, Fish tacos or cajun fries. Did I mention Schwartz's Bakery, Cafe Elite, Pizza Nosh, Western Kosher....I won't because he could have GIYF (directed at the OP not you moish)

And I won't mention how every freaking Coffee Bean across the entire state of CA is itself a kosher joint...

I'm not sure where you shop in LA for kosher food, but there are plenty of places to get it at great prices...

The LA thread has 28 pages for good reason...LA ain't Brooklyn...but it sure ain't Nebraska.

Just for an update, 2 new sushi places (Saba Sushi, sit down and Mashuga for sushi, take away) as well as a Pita Way opened recently in the La Brea/Melrose area.

And I won't mention how every freaking Coffee Bean across the entire state of CA is itself a kosher joint...

I'm not sure where you shop in LA for kosher food, but there are plenty of places to get it at great prices...

The LA thread has 28 pages for good reason...LA ain't Brooklyn...but it sure ain't Nebraska. 
compared to ny, its much more expensive. i shop at lbkm
