I personally enjoy lunch at Herzog more than dinner. It really depends on your style of food it’s a totally different menu.

  There is no mariv in Oxnard only Schacris in chabbad and mincha in the winery.

 There is a few nice hotels on the water there.

 You can go shopping in Camarillo,rent a boat and do a helicopter ride all in Oxnard.

Embassey suites mandalay beach. You have to get a presidential suite WITH direct beach access. If you have hilton status then book reg room and call manager and push for the suite

If anyone knows the owners of Mensch, they took an excellent restaurant and concept, and ruined it with making small serving sizes. Then they destroyed it with terrible customer service and empty racks. To be fully empty on a legal holiday for breakfast is so sad.

Indoors. It's ok, but doesn't take long. Not great in the rain since parking can be far away in crowded weekends and the normally excellent views will probably be gone.

Are the shows in the planetarium any good? Light of the Valkyries in particular caught my eye.

I might be in the area for the upcoming super blood moon eclipse.  My assumption is that going to the observatory's event is NOT a good idea. Long lines, extra crazy parking situation for 30 seconds on a telescope?

What did you order that had a small serving size? I was there a couple weeks ago and the serving sizes seemed fair, wait times weren't too long, and the food was good. My only complaint was that the "hot chocolate" wasn't hot...

There actually used to be a non-kosher coffee shop called Java many years ago on corner of poinsettia and melrose, after they removed the gas station. 20+ years ago.

I order various things frequently. In the delice days I could count on a filling meal. Now I assume I won't get one.

Various salads
Tuna melt

There seems to be a lot of employee turnover there -- and a variety of inconsistent spotty menu items for breakfast, brunch, and pastries. However, their flaky dairy chocolate croissant is memorable. Seems to be trying to sell too many things at once that all need to be made fresh each day.

It is also a very large location, therefore the rent is probably extremely high. A place like this could easily seat and feed 40+ people per hour on New Years Day -- the staff would need to be very prepared and motivated to serve everyone and to have enough products, employees, and ingredient-inventory on hand each day.

This is my point. One year ago, it was impossible to get a table there on a legal holiday, and any given Sunday was tough.

they upgraded you for free after booking basic room?

Of course there's a chance for an official maariv, but good luck being "that guy" going around to all the tables at the restaurant asking for people to make a minyan.

I don't see an issue if the restaurant  is okay with it and you ask in a polite menschlich way(trying to approach them before they sit down with the family if possible etc..).  Some people will be grateful.

Right, but many people just go around saying, "mincha, mincha" or "maariv, maariv" disturbing meals and interrupting conversations. That's what I mean by "that guy."
