Los Angeles Master Thread

Scrolled through most of the pages, but looking for help on where to stay for shabbos in LA area in mid February. Don't judge me, but being close to minyan is less important than being close to something for my kids to do on shabbos (ie shabbos walkable site seeing). Aside from Santa Monica (eruv is not an issue), what are my other options? TIA

@Dan  As an aside, these master guides are great for trip planning, but I have recently found both the LA and South Florida sites to be overwhelmed with information on a ton of different topics. Perhaps there is a way to split these major cities into separate threads for Food, Lodging, Things to do so that it is easier to pick the right thread to read through. I think that you already do that for NY.

Thank you. I did review and found it helpful (better than other wiki's). I also find the member back and forth helpful to find detail.

As far as quasi shabbos appropriate things to do, the Grove and farmers market is outdoor - near Hancock Park. Beverly Biola has rodeo drive. Neither is going to fill your day, but could kill an hour or so (plus walking time), which should be ok for a short shabbos.

Beverly hills can take a lot longer than an hour. It'd take 30 minutes just to walk from Pico to Rodeo Dr. More than enough time.

Shiloh’s became one of my favorite restaurants. Most of their menu is quite mediocre, but the Tarte Flambee, duck breast, Chef Cut steak, and hangar steak are some of the best kosher dishes in the world.

Homemade sorbet is also very good

I don't know. I went after Pesach, got the Impossible Burger, and was let down. It wasn't served with anything on the bun at all. No sauce, no vegetables, nothing. I know the meat tastes different, but if they can't serve a pareve item properly, I can't imagine their meats are much better.

There are items on the menu that I find inedible, but their CHEF'S CUT CALOTTE steak may have been the best steak I've ever had.
