For those that don't know how certificates work.

Seven night and five night certificates

1. Marriott certificates can be used for any reservation that can be booked with points. To search for reward availability simply go to marriott.com and check the box to search "using points".

Marriott hotels are divided into categories. (Cheapest being category one) below is a list of all the category 1-5 hotels  http://www.marriott.com/hotel-search/Category1.hotels.Category2.Category3.Category4.Category5/

2. A 5/7 night certificates must be used for 5/7 consecutive nights. The reservation cannot be split up.

3. In order to hold the room you need a credit card. Your card will be kept for incidentals and you won't be charged for the room.

4. Certificates can be gifted and the room can be booked with anyone's name as the primary guest (and not just secondary guest)

5. Gold or plat benefits depend heavily on the hotel. At check in you may or may not get an upgrade.

So what's the current status on Marriott's new (supposed) policy not allowing second guests to be added to reservations?  Anybody have successful bookings?

I'm interested in buying a 5-night award, but wondering if the seller could attempt to add my name first before I proceed with payment, sounds reasonable?

I recently bought a 7 night from ErikV and I called the hotel and was able to adds second guest without a problem

I sold someone on this forum a cert. He is probably a broker. His guy was a no show and I am now being charged a no show penalty by the property. Do you guys agree the buyer should reimburse me for charges?

Don't you get back the cert if you pay the fee?

Yes. Did you get certificate back and if so, did buyer get a refund or did you lose cert and get charged a no show penalty?

The price, as always, is what someone is willing to pay for it. I've seen prices from $130 - $180 requested, not sure what market is right now.

100%
If he doesn't pay for it, please post his name so we know who stay away from.

This is my first post so hope Iím posting this correctly....

Traveling to Israel in July and would like to book two nights at the Renaissance Tel Aviv which is a 35,000 Marriott points per night redemption (70,000 points in total). Anyone willing to sell/use their points for this booking at a fair price please let me know.
