For those that don't know how certificates work.

Seven night and five night certificates

1. Marriott certificates can be used for any reservation that can be booked with points. To search for reward availability simply go to marriott.com and check the box to search "using points".

Marriott hotels are divided into categories. (Cheapest being category one) below is a list of all the category 1-4 hotels  http://www.marriott.com/hotel-search/Category1.hotels.Category2.Category3.Category4.Category5/

2. A 5/7 night certificates must be used for 5/7 consecutive nights. The reservation cannot be split up.

3. In order to hold the room you need a credit card. Your card will be kept for incidentals and you won't be charged for the room.

4. Certificates can be gifted BUT the room needs to be booked under the account holders name and you will be added a secondary guest.

5. Gold or plat benefits depend heavily on the hotel. At check in you may or may not get an upgrade.

Lol, I agree with you. But like you, if anyone is selling these for $500, I want to get in on that.

Based on a point valuation, (and assuming that any seller will receive the refund of 30,000 points before selling), the points value of these certificates will be 105,000. At the market rate of approx $0.0065 per point, we are talking about a points value of approximately $685. Factor a small discount because selling these certificates is easier than selling the points directly, and the floor on these will be $625-$65. The ceiling will be approximately $1,300, which is the cost of buying the points directly (but I expect the actual price to gravitate much closer to the floor than ceiling).

Ill buy all your category 5 new for 625-650

I think I was pretty clear that that price is the floor, calculated on the value of the points for which it could be exchanged, and not the market value. But out of curiosity, what do you think the market value will be for the new category 5?

Nobody selling these has posted a price. I think people looking to but are just posting a super low price to see if anyone will bite, which doesn't seem they have.

I think that all the sellers are afraid to make the first move without any basis for the price. People are also afraid because it looks like the T&Cs are still a little fluid, so no one really knows that they have on their hands.

Don't think any 1 night cat 1-5 exists, and please post a price pursuant to forum rules.

I sold one for 1750 tier 1-3 (cateory 9) they couldnt book it in time for the reservation tried phone and finally got an email back about 30 hours later to submit and couldnt make the 7 days so I had to refund - but people are willing to pay 1700+ - the valuation of points a 065 is a tough one most people wont sell for that.  I ended up helping him with a friend who was willing to sell me 300,000 marriott for 2000 so it would cost him an additional 250 (hence the savings) but even that is hard to find.

Buying new Cat 5 7 night cert for $500 obo. I read the valuation above but I have the points to make the stay already and if not for the 7 nights, I would probably just stay 5 nights, pay for 4 with the 5th night free and then travel somewhere else. As much value as the cert could be worth, I just don't know many buyers who want to stay 7 nights straight in any one location especially at the lower category hotels.
