« on: July 02, 2013, 10:41:07 AM »
Hi all,
I'm planning to take family to Bush Gardens, Williamsburg VA on the week of Aug 11 or Aug 18. any idea where the nearest Minyan is? (i know there is none in Williamsburg unless we can put together minyan for those weeks)
also any good ideas on where to stay with family with kids (suite...) and nice things and places to do ?
Thanks

I visited Williamsburg, Virginia many years ago.  Don't remember if we covered any attractions other than Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.  We spent two days in Colonial Williamsburg but the second day was pretty repetitious.  We found the trade shops extremely interesting- the tin shop, printer, wigmaker, brickmaker etc... Don't miss the public gaol, capitol, courthouse, governor's palace. With a bit of planning and research you should be able to cover most of the main buildings/ attractions in one day.

Also is there plenty to do at Bush gardens for small kids?

Didn't go with little kids.  I remember that there were great rollercoasters! Check out their website for the kiddie rides. http://seaworldparks.com/en/buschgardens-williamsburg/Attractions/KIDsiderate-Attractions?from=Top_Nav

regarding colonial Williamsburg - is it worth the price? or better just to walk around for free?

You could get in to the area without paying but you can't go into any buildings or attend any event (reenactment etc.). Which completely defeats the purpose if gong in the first place. If you want to see old buildings there are plenty of places in Brooklyn you could go to ::).

I went there about 5 years ago and hated it. It was about 90 degrees and also went into Colonial Will. for free, and saw just what I thought I would see. Old colonial buildings. I have a second home in Smallwood NY (outside Liberty) and used to go the Narrowsburg colonial village. Exactly the same and it's free. Saw many colonial buildings and also reenactments.  And there are minyans in Sullivan Co.
