Or he can easily receive a $5,000 tax receipt (a normal price for such items) which can be worth more than what he's selling it for, plus a chosson and kalla will have a beautiful Italian dinning room set.

I guess that would depend on the person income,, tax bracket etc. To make it worth more then $800 cash the op would prob. Need to be in a high bracket.I am not an accountant so I cant say forshure.but I do hear the mitzva aspect.

Just an idea, if you have not done so already, put a sign by the coffee room.  You can even title it 'You can help with shalom bayis'.
