I, personally, am disappointed with the way it was handled.  I certainly understand the positive economic aspects, but it still leaves a bad taste in the public's mouth.

My family is still in the U.S. and would love to visit.  They also spend plenty of money on dining, lodging, and shopping every visit.  Why should they be treated differently?
Huge difference. These students come now, quarantine for 2 weeks and then are in Israel for the whole year. After their quarantine, they’re just as much of a threat as any other Israeli.
Tourists come and go much more frequently, and they have no control or data on them.

If they are willing to take Covid tests before and after arrival and quarantine for two weeks, they should be allowed in (I am stating my opinion, not the official policy).

I must admit that you have a point.  I forgot about the fact that these folks will be here for an extended period of time and not just the typical 1-3 weeks a tourist might spend.  I still think exceptions should be made for non-citizen immediate family of citizens (parents, siblings, grandparents).  With testing/quarantine, of course.

I'm very confused about the agreement with Greece. Why only 600 Israelis per week?

Also what prevents me from flying to Athens, then wonder around Europe freely, and back to Israel through Athens / Crete / Corfu, without quarantine on the way back?

It sounds like they're trying to restart tourism gradually, so they need to choose some limit.  Each tourist will be quarantined in Greece, until the results of the second test, so presumably they have some quarantine facility available for those hours (or days?), and the size of that might be limiting.

Actually, I don't know anything about this, and am just posting because I enjoyed the image of someone "wondering" around the amazing sites in Europe.

Limit the potential spread to 600 people? The real question is why the governments are wasting their time with a program that will have negligible impact on the economy. I guess the ministers kids want a vacay

Many countries in Europe are having passport checks on arriving Schengen flights, Greece in particular has many limits on arriving EU pax.

Hi.  I will be flying United BOS-EWR-TLV.
Will I check my luggage all the way through to TLV, or do I need to claim and re-check in EWR?

Only in that direction. If you're returning the same way, you'll need to re-check in Newark.

I wonder if @zow is coming back right away but as with all domestic connections, on the way back you need to pick up luggage and then send it on its way after you go through customs.

Israir asking for landing slots

Main part of that article is the whining of ELAL pilots about allowing unfair competition by EY and EK with which they can't compete (blaming it on the KSA overflight approval to UAE only for Israeli aircraft (which politically works for them, not naming Israel - just allowing all flights to and from the UAE to use their airspace).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Israir 320 and El Al 737 vs Emirates 380/777 and Etihad 787 is a true David v Goliath fight.

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

LY doesn't even have a plane to fly over KSA if permission was granted  ::)
