It's a long flight, peope going for leisure might not mind/ want to stop in the gulf. Also, and probably more importantly, their level of anti Israeli policy (ban on Israeli products) probably makes it uncomfortable or even not possible for Elal to fly in.

The article indicates that flights are to/from ORY and not CDG. FWIW ORY is closer to Brunoi (though I am not sure if easier access via public transportation).

It's been many years since I've been to Paris, and I don't think I ever used ORY. How's that airport for connections?

I'm not seeing the splash here. Half the passengers don't have direct aisle access, and a layover for $2k, when non-stop flights are $2640... Meh...
