Can you please post the article?
"El Al demanded on Wednesday that Israeli authorities will allow the airline to fly over Saudi airspace following reports that said the Saudis granted Air India approval to operate flights from New Delhi to Tel Aviv over its airspace.

This is the first time the Saudis are allowing flights to Israel to use their airspace.

Following the reports, Michael Strausberger, El Al's recently appointed vice president for commercial and industry affairs, said he expects that the same approval would be given to Israeli airlines

"We at El Al, and I assume that other Israeli airlines share our view, hope and believe that Saudi Arabia will also allow Israeli airlines, who fly from or to Israel – and not only foreign airlines – to fly over its territory," Strausberger said.

"It's clear that there is no difference between an Israeli passenger who flies in a plane that takes off or lands in Israel with a foreign airline or with an Israeli airline," he added, noting that no passenger or airline should be discriminated against.

Strausberger said that El Al has already asked Israeli authorities for such approval. "We approached the prime minister, the Civil Aviation Authority, the transportation minister and the Shin Bet and said that we expect equal opportunity among the carriers."

The new route over Saudi Arabia, which was granted to Air India, has a clear advantage, he stressed. "It will allow airlines to shorten flight durations and will reduce flight costs and as a result lower prices for passengers."

Germania increasing TXL-TLV schedule to 6x a week.

Sorry, couldn't find English version yet.

http://www.israelhayom.co.il/article/538485

There's also some buzz about Air India starting DEL-TLV service as early as mid March, based on some Bloomberg article which I didn't find yet.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Posting for a family in our kahal, who has an adult son with mild-autism. Please PM me if you can help:

Our son Noah is coming back from Israel on El Al flight #15 to Boston, leaving Tel Aviv on Tuesday, March 13 at 12:05am.  If you know anyone on this flight, or anyone who knows anyone, it would be very helpful if that person could simply stand in line behind Noah and direct him through passport control/customs/baggage.

Still cannot buy a ticket though...To start flying so soon means empty planes.

A320 instead of A321 on the other 2.
:(
If only they would put something with real J on that route, they could prove some real competition to LX and TK (also presumably BA, but who wants to pay outrageous YQ or connect at LHR, I've never flown via VIE, but from what I've heard I'd probably take it over LHR for a connection in a heartbeat).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
