To fly ba I would have to go cross Europe. How would that be a good deal on a distance based chart?
I was under under the impression ElAl is always a rip off, so didn't bother checking. Do any ElAl partners have good rates on ElAl metal?
Why do you need specifically distance based? BA is 10k from TLV to LON + YQ
LY has some decent deals on some routes to Europe, not all. You can transfer from AX to LY. If you insist on distance based, you can book LY via Qantas. But you would need TY points for that.

I don't need distance based, but I figured it would be the best deal for countries closer to Israel.

BA is 10k plus yq to London, so would be even more to other destinations. I'm looking for 10-15k rt to compete with ulcc.

Etihad should get you on JU (no idea what redemption rates are) and FlyingBlue can get you on RO, both JU and RO have (almost) no YQ. If there's any *A that is distance based, A3 flies to LCA and ATH.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

You also have IB on vueling which can be quite decent rates

Correct. But isn't Vueling a LCC? (maybe not ULCC, so might still be an alternative to ULCC, just wondering).

It's always been high when I checked, but if you say so, I'll keep checking.

It sounds like for your needs, your best bet is simply using CC points through a portal (Chase/Citi) or a 2%+ cashback card.  Then you can simply book the LCC with your points/cashback.  Aegean to Cyprus/Greece is only about 15K r/t with their miles.  Qantas would be 28K r/t I believe to Sofia/Bucharest on El Al.  I think Etihad miles to Prague via Czech is also very low, but they only operate the Smartwings subsidiary now I believe, not sure it can also be booked via Etihad.

The problem is you can't book the ulcc flights through Chase as far as I know.
I thought I remembered seeing cheap flights on Czech to Prague using Etihad points, but I just checked again, and it's not. Maybe because of the switch.
