Bibi says he got Oman's approval to use airspace. I don't see how this would change any of the routes (article talks about flights to India)

So far looks like only Israeli press (for example: https://www.globes.co.il/news/article.aspx?did=1001264099).

I would give it an hour or two before LY puts the English version on newswire

Didn’t see that coming, though also not surprised. Many many Israelis in Vegas. They would probably be better off with 2x weekly for people who don’t want to be a full week there.

Nice new route! TAP often has very good economy and business class fares, which can work one way too. They also offer a free stopover in Lisbon option.

Lisbon – Tel Aviv eff 31MAR19 1 daily A321 (Previously served from October 1993 to April 1997)
TP1603 LIS1420 – 2130TLV 321 D
TP1604 TLV0505 – 0900LIS 321 D

Being downgraded to 5x week next winter.

TAP Air Portugal in winter 2019/20 season is adjusting operational frequencies on Lisbon – Tel Aviv route, effective 27OCT19. The A321neo LR service will operate 5 weekly flights in winter season, instead of 7 weekly in summer season. This route is scheduled to begin on 31MAR19.

TP1603 LIS1420 – 2130TLV 321 x35
TP1604 TLV0530 – 0925LIS 321 x46

They have the B6 codeshare, so it's not like passengers have a better alternative, here at they'll have a direct flight OW.

They claim to be targeting Christian tourism from NV, UT, AZ and OR.

From a practical/operational standpoint, it seems like they are looking for decent utilization of a 787 over the weekend. A flight scheduled to land in LAS on Friday afternoon is not likely to have any Shomer Shabbos passengers on board, so a delay that would make it land closer to Shabbos won't become a big issue. Parking in LAS over Shabbos is probably cheaper than other international gateways in the US. So they are hoping this works out good for the 787 over the weekend.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Just noticed something in this Reuters article from this morning, where they talk about flying over African countries to get to South America. Perhaps paving the way to LY resuming flights to GRU?

Bibi: "At this time, we can overfly Egypt. We can overfly Chad, that has already been set. And to all appearances, we can also overfly this corner of Sudan," he said, pointing to a map.

"Netanyahu spokesmen did not elaborate and it was unclear when Israeli flights might be able to start overflying Sudan en route to South America, which the prime minister described as Israel's fourth-most important air-travel destination."

Yeah I'm aware. Do we know if they plan to fly over countries that don't give flyover rights to LY?
