Anyone know why UA84/85 are late this Friday/Saturday?

because TLV is closed on Sat. mornings now for renovations or so.

El Al is having their news conference today (I think) about their new 'low-cost' subsidary.
LY thinks they can succeed where CO, DL, and UA failed miserably?
That's cute.

I don't think it'll work, but the European market is diff than the US market and LCCs seem to do quite well. But their structural problems won't allow it to work for them IMO.

LCCs do well everywhere.
LCCs run by big airlines do not.

LY is quite a small airline, and if done properly (ie, none of the legacy overhead), may be able to succeed.
But it's LY we're talking about...

The other LLC's are much to sneeze at either.
If LY could compete on price, than many ppl would prefer to fly them to support the flag.

They wouldn't even know that other airlines tried and failed.

They lowered the price without lowering the cost structure it's just a big joke.

And that's why they won't compete till they can shed their union costs. But I don't think that even a bankruptcy would help w/ those.
