Any advice for TLV-GIB? Seems like a surprisingly impractical route to fly, unless I'm missing something.

You are missing something!
As the Spanish are fighting the brits on Gibraltar the Spanish won't allows anyone to land in gib other than flights originating in the UK.
Ps you could fly into Agp (malga) and drive up to gib

Yeah, that much I noticed - but it seems like a overnight stop is required in each direction, plus prices are $1800 per person... in coach. :o

Even with Matrix set to not check for available seats, it shows that he lowest possible price would still be over $800. What gives?!

ba has a flight leaving from LHR 10:10am so getting that flight you would need overnight in London.
There are options with easy jet too

Return to tlv you should be able to take the ba from gib at 2:50pm and the night flight from LHR to tlv.
Did you check flying to Agp? (it's a hour drive)

According to someone on FT, they do this each year. They add on the flights in the summer, start removing them over the winter, and then announce a bunch more flights for the next summer.
But in reality, there isn't much new to it.

If those are the prices, why not use miles?
Also, did you check different legs sep? Maybe EasyJet to London, and then Avios, or s/t similar?
Even the discount carriers are fairly pricey. I'm starting to think it's best to use AA miles (instead of BA Avios, which would mean a high fuel charge).
Thanks!

AB and Niki don't fly there? You could avoid YQ w/ them, although you'd have to pay for each leg sep.

You could book it all on 1 ticket if BA lets you. It's just a connecting leg.

And on aa
correct, but depending on your AA valuation, BA might be a better play.

If someone needs to fly from TLV to London for one day (for a wedding or something), what would be the best mileage program for that?

Why should a day be different than s/t longer?
Maybe chk flying BA using IB miles to see if it drops some of the YQ.
Otherwise, maybe EasyJet can help out, at least for one direction if not RT.

To head off useless suggestions like "just look for an El Al winter sale ticket!" and such.

Thanks for the advice. Anyone else have any other suggestions?
