Inter-Thailand Flights   Bangkok Airways (PG)

PG flights are bookable on points through JAL, CX, EY and AB.

JAL
Required Mileage: Transferable from SPG. JAL uses a distance based award chart and allows up to a maximum of 7 stopovers (8 segments). To figure out how many points you will need, add up the total amount of miles that will be flown (can do this on GCMap.com) and then find the appropriate row in the award chart (http://www.ar.jal.com/ar/en/jalmile/use/partner_air/p_jmb/jmb_mile_ar.html). If you are traveling before 3/31/2017 there is a promotion for trips up to 4,000 miles (see http://www.jal.co.jp/121campaign/pg_discount/index_en.html for reduced mileage rates). The promotion makes JAL the best award redemption option for PG flights.

Booking the Flight: The only way to find out if there is availability on the flight that you want is to call JAL. Recommended that you do so before transferring points. JAL doesn't allow you to hold a reservation so you have to hope that the flight doesn't get booked up while you're waiting for the point transfer to go through. Once the points post to your JAL account, call JAL back to book.
+1 800-525-3663 (5:00 - 18:00 PT) press 1 - 4 - JAL membership number - # - pin - # - 0 (for human or 1 for computer search)

Traveling with Infant: Tell JAL that you are flying with a lap child. They will put the infant on the reservation, but they will also tell you that you need to call PG directly to get the infant's ticket issued and pay for any taxes etc. JAL will only charge you for the adults on the reservation. Unless you speak Thai, calling PG won't work (when you press 9 for English when calling any of the Asian offices, the message will tell you to go to their website, and the office in Germany can't issue tickets). To add the infant, send an email to reservation@bangkokair.com with your confirmation number and tell them you want to have the lap infant's ticket issued. They will email you back with the price (data point: it was ~$96USD for CNX-USM-HKG for me) and ask you to reply with your cc info split into two separate emails for security (one email with first 8 digits, exp. and name on card, second email with last 8 digits, cvv, and billing address). I believe they only take Visa or MC. You'll then get an email back with confirmation.

Baggage Allowance: Economy passengers are allowed 20kg, infants (and dolls) are allowed 10kg. Excess weight on domestic flights will incur a charge of 80thb ($2.25ish) per kilo. International overage fee chart can be found here. Join the PG FlyingBonus program to receive an additional 10kg.

Contacting PG: In general, if you have any questions, the only way to speak with them in English besides email is PG Live Chat. You can find the link if you log in to your Flyer Bonus account. Chat reps are very helpful.

IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE TO PAY (JAL AND PG) WITH A CC BELONGING TO SOMEONE THAT IS TRAVELING ON THE ITINERARY. PG WILL SOMETIMES ASK YOU TO SHOW THE CC USED TO PAY FOR THE TRIP WHEN YOU CHECK IN, AND RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY BOARDING IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT.

hurry hurry-thailand folks :D!!

http://www.jetsetter.com/hotels/phuket/thailand/1087/anantara-phuket-villas?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily&utm_term=20150708_vJW_WEDJ_np&utm_source=jetsetter&nl_id=107764&DG=6881edf9-c465-4f01-9461-f93642e5eec7&ckey=
I can't believe it!! I just booked yesterday morning and am paying $688 for 2 nights and jetsetter is offering it for $548. I booked it thru Anantara directly and that was the best price that could give me. I reserved a pool villa and they guaranteed me an upgrade to the lagoon villa because I booked thru them as opposed to a third party website. They charged my cc already and I can't cancel. I just emailed them a screenshot from jetsetter and asked them to match it. Any hopes in them matching this sale price??

I hope-they are really nice and were accommodating to me about changes I had to make to my room that I booked through Jetsetter and they were willing to change it for me even though I booked through jetsetter-please update what they say

Anyone know about the free shuttle bus from BKK to DMK, is it worth the hassle? How much longer does it take than a cab?

They matched it!! Here's the reply...
Dear Mr. Mech,

Thank you for your email. With regard to your requested, we can match room rate with Jetsetter.com. However, this option is unable to upgrade to Lagoon Pool Villa and not including 15% discount on Spa treatment like the original booking that made with us. For the differ rate (THB 4,719 net), we will keep as a resort credit for you to use to deduct with your all expense during stay.
In the mean time. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Best regards,

Kotchakon

NICE!! I had a feeling they would based on my experience and how accommodating they were-not sure how useful the resort credit is though as you are not going to eat any meals there, etc-(unless you plan on using the spa-that is a diff story)we ended up with $0 in charges when we left as we only visited the bar once and I paid on the spot......

Exotic-meaning beautiful beaches etc?-usually the best place to do the animal things are in Chiang Mai but it is not exotic as in beachwise, etc (it is rather dirty and smelly)
Each city in Thailand does offer some type of place that allows you to interact with animals (they have a tiger place in phuket as well) but they are generally not as good as the ones in Chiang Mai...
Most people do Koh Samui or Phuket for the exotic and Chiang Mai for the animal stuff, so......(maybe you can add a second stop-they are only about an hour or two flight from each other?)

Exotic doesn't mean beaches. And Phuket smells plenty worse then Chiang Mai-if you consider Chiang Mai to smell

I'm going to be in Bangkok for 3 hours, switching from BKK to DMK any must do's or ideas?
Is the 3 hours your estimate of how long you have outside the airport or the full amount of time between flights?

I did that already 2 days ago and got an email from the chef asking for chabads number so he can arrange kosher food. We're going to keep that separate from the room credit
