Just booked a trip to Peru for June with my wife. We have been looking for a trip for a while but did not look at South America because of Zika but then realized because of the altitude there are no mosqitos.
Our plan
Motzei Shabbos: NYC-LIM overnight flight in business then soonest connection to cusco (currently booked at 4 PM due to limited award availability and 90 minute stopover required in system)
Sunday- arrive in Cusco and stay overnight in hotel there or sacred valley to avoid altitude
Monday AM- leave on 3 night 4 day Trek on Salkantay trail to Macchu Pichu (

Return Thursday evening from Machu Pichu, stay in Cusco or Sacred Valley overnight
Friday early afternoon flight to Lima
Shabbos in Lima
Motzei Shabbos flight back to JFK
I have done treks before but my wife has never. I expect no interest from her in the idea of a trek with tents but she was convinced by the beauty to try it. Any suggestions or resources on how to handle food on the trek? I was planning on bringing a pot and pan and asking the cook to work with us on cooking what we approve.
Any other suggestions modifications?
Thanks for the help
