Anyone have a good hotel in Ollantaytambo? I'm having a really hard time finding a decent place and I would rather stay there than Urubamba.

Also - looking for a good option in Cusco that is near Chabad.

Thanks!

Any recommendations for a driver/tour guide in Cuzco/Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu? Want someone knowledgeable, but not overpriced.
Looking to spend almost week in the area (includes a Shabbos). Group of 5 plus little one (6 pax, 5 tourists).

Also seeking recommendations for Puerto Maldonado or Iquitos to visit the Amazon. Thinking of doing a 3 day/2 night trip.

Any DDFers currently in Peru? I have some tours booked for this coming week and my co-travelers won't be joining, so I have some empty spots that are already paid for and won't be used. PM if you'd like more details.

Do you have any feedback?
Anywhere else that was cool?

Wonder if I can plan a trip in a week.

I'd say a week is the absolute minimum for Cusco/Sacred Valley area. I did a little more than a week and I really needed another 2-3 days at least, and that's with only doing MP as a day trip.
Planning to get around to writing that TR one of those days...

thanks - I meant I only have a week to plan.
Is it crazy to go somewhere like Peru under such a hurry, during holiday season no less?

I think it's enough time if you stick to one location. In most areas you'll want a tour guide anyway, and they'll arrange the daily itinerary so that leaves just flights and lodging for you to take care of.

just a heads up. A couple of weeks ago I was denied entry to the Chabad of Lima Friday night by the security guy even though I had pre-registered and paid. I still don't know why but maybe because I didn't have my passport(eruv)? If you're planning on going maybe have someone from the shul meet you at the entrance.

Is it possible to plan a trip from Sunday to Friday (from NYC), including a day at Machu Pichu? We will be staying at the Sacred valley.
Is this enough time or do we need to stay over the weekend?

Why wouldn't it be? Assuming you'll be in Peru from Monday morning till late Thursday, that gives you at least 3.5 days in the Sacred Valley + one day at MP.

I've seen some negative reviews for Latam airlines. is it worth paying extra for premium economy or business for the flights from JFK to Lima? Anyone have any experience with these flights?
