Question about Marriott Account

I had a Marriott credit card about two years ago. Now I like to sign up for another one to get sign up bonus. Since Chase track it using Marriott reward account number (I learned that from this board), so I like to apply a new Marriott number. However Marriott.com doesn't allow to do so. A duplicated account is detected. If I leave Marriott number empty in Credit card application form, will Chase be able to create a new one for me? Dan and others, how do you guy churn in this case? Thx!

Why not open up a new account w/ a different address, or a slightly different name?
