Flight options.

There is 2 Airports serving Iguassu (Iguazu, Iguaçu) Falls, IGU on the Brazilian side and IGR on the Argentinian side.
See here for a map of airports connecting to IGU and IGR  forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=3052.msg1363094#msg1363094

When searching for award availability search first to connecting  airports as for example, from NYC VIA Brazil search

LAN thru Lima Peru (cheapest option usually) Oneworld (BA Shows Lan)
JFK-GIG  on Tam (BA.com) and/or AA (AA.com)
JFK- GRU AA, Delta
EWR-GRU UA
COPA airlines flies thru Panama City and GRU (usually 2 stops)

Argentina options

Aerolineas Argentina JFK-EZE
LAN Argentina

Hotels
Belmont in the Brazilian side of the park
Sheraton Iguazu in the Argentina side of the park. (SPG)
Park Hyatt Iguacu Falls coming soon!

Major Activities

The Argentinian side is more up-close and personal.
You will need to walk both the upper and lower trail on the Argentina side. The upper will take about an hour, the lower about 2. Make sure to do the boat ride on the lower trail for the most awesome views. You will get soaked so take along a ziplock for your camera. You can also take the train to Devils point

The Brazillian side is more of a panorama view.
On the Brazil side at the falls there is less walking as you are not next to the falls like on the Argentina side but rather across the river from them. You will take a tram to the start of the trail on the Brazil side and just walk along side the falls, starting from the pink hotel till the end. When you get to the end is when you will be totally blown away. Walk out on the boardwalk and you will get the most amazing view of the falls.

Bird park well worth about an hour

Helicopter tour on the Brazillian side (Argentina band it as its not Eco friendly)

There is a  huge dam you can tour that powers all of Paraguay and huge portions of Brazil and Argentina

Airport Transfer Options

Cabs are available at fairly cheap from both airports to the park and hotels (cross border too)

Those are airport codes for Buenos Aires, Rio and Sao Paulo. Point is, your best option would be to travel to one of those cities for Shabbos.

So I'm officially going 8/16-8/23 from the latest priceline deal for $340.

Think I'm gonna book the Belmond for 2-3 nights. Anyone stayed there?

For the rest of the trip trying to decide between going to BA or Bolivia. Thoughts?

I'd go for BsAs. What interests you in Bolivia?

1. Salar da Uyuni
2. La Paz

Buenos Aires is practical because the visa would also allow me access to other side of falls, right?

I just PUTPAC BA. Looks like its 30K Avios plus $150 tax or $699 to fly from IGR-AEP r/t.

Is this typical?

Is Mon evening to Wed morning too long to be at the Falls?

Then is Wed morning to Sun morning a good amount of time in Buenos Aires?

For 2 people. For 1 person should be 15k roundtrip, unless they are searching a premium cabin for you. Days to destination ratio seem right.

Agreed. Avios are your best option, and the prices you quoted are for two people. Locals may take the bus if flying is too expensive, and while they buses have a lie flat bed, you probably don't want to spend 24+ hours on the road.

They are more like 18 hours on average. You can leave in the evening and arrive early noon into BUE. And the buses there are super comfy, most of them have beds (cama class), if you're up for an adventure do it, and post a TR :)

Just booked over the phone. Had to complain for a while to avoid the phone fee. Ended up being 15K plus $50.

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Have a Nov trip planned, staying at the Belmond. How does one get to the hotel after the park closes? do you have to take trasport from the Hotel or does a regular cab cut it.
What are the payment options
How much R$ is necessary and where to change money

I'm sure you're able to access the hotel after the park closes, just not sure how. The airport is a 10 minute drive (max) from the park entrance, so a cab will do (cash only).  IIRC it was around R$20 for the ride from the park to IGU, not sure about the other way.

You can take out money at the ATM for the best rate. Change USD to ARS if you're going to Argentina though, as BRL won't give as good of a rate.
