Flight options.

There is 2 Airports serving Iguassu (Iguazu, Iguaçu) Falls, IGU on the Brazilian side and IGR on the Argentinian side.
See here for a map of airports connecting to IGU and IGR  forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=3052.msg1363094#msg1363094

When searching for award availability search first to connecting  airports as for example, from NYC VIA Brazil search

LAN thru Lima Peru (cheapest option usually) Oneworld (BA Shows Lan)
JFK-GIG  on Tam (BA.com) and/or AA (AA.com)
JFK- GRU AA, Delta
EWR-GRU UA
COPA airlines flies thru Panama City and GRU (usually 2 stops)

Argentina options

Aerolineas Argentina JFK-EZE
LAN Argentina

Hotels
Belmont in the Brazilian side of the park
Sheraton Iguazu in the Argentina side of the park. (SPG)
Park Hyatt Iguacu Falls coming soon!

Major Activities

The Argentinian side is more up-close and personal.
You will need to walk both the upper and lower trail on the Argentina side. The upper will take about an hour, the lower about 2. Make sure to do the boat ride on the lower trail for the most awesome views. You will get soaked so take along a ziplock for your camera. You can also take the train to Devils point

The Brazillian side is more of a panorama view.
On the Brazil side at the falls there is less walking as you are not next to the falls like on the Argentina side but rather across the river from them. You will take a tram to the start of the trail on the Brazil side and just walk along side the falls, starting from the pink hotel till the end. When you get to the end is when you will be totally blown away. Walk out on the boardwalk and you will get the most amazing view of the falls.

Bird park well worth about an hour

Helicopter tour on the Brazillian side (Argentina band it as its not Eco friendly)

There is a  huge dam you can tour that powers all of Paraguay and huge portions of Brazil and Argentina

Airport Transfer Options

Cabs are available at fairly cheap from both airports to the park and hotels (cross border too)

How long is the drive from the Sheraton to the Brazil side and

Its about 15 min plus the border crossing  x 2 out and in.

Quote
how long is the walk? Should I have the taxi wait for me?

Do you want to walk from Argentina to Brazil? I dint think thats doable.

If you book through the Sheraton its not that cheap. You can find a taxi at the Brazil park entrance for cheap back to the Sheraton.

I'm looking to visit Iguazu on the end of my Buenos Aires trip. I'm thinking to buy a revenue round trip from AEP - IGR for ~ $200 and then once back in Bs As, fly back with delta for 37,500 skymiles with a stopover in Atlanta. I already have the tickets for the way there. I'm having a hard time finding availability with the intra-argentina flights so that is why I'm leaning towards just buying the revenue tickets and returning to EZE for the flight home, does that make sense or is there something else I should try?

I will be flying with my wife and our baby.

$200 sounds okay. Where did you already check for availability?

I think I spoke too soon. Just called AA and they have the round-trip available AEP-IGR for 12K and about $6. I think that makes this a no brainer especially since I have so many AA miles.

Yep, that's what I was going to say. LAN availability doesn't show on AA.com.

AA is less miles AND much less $.

ETA: See BA's taxes collected VS AA is about $6-8.

Just spoke with AA to add an infant (lap child) AEP - IGR and they told me there is no fee, should need to come to the airport to get ticketed. Can anyone confirm this? I don't want to show up at the airport and have them tell me it will cost $250 to add an infant as a lap child..

You're lucky. Domestic flights within South Africa all require infants to have paid lap fares (which are almost always under $10).

I'm in Iguazu now, this place is beautiful. Falls are amazing. The Sheraton is nice, although the actual rooms are pretty mediocre for a category 5 destination. I have a full day tomorrow and I'm trying to see what would be the best thing to do. Any ideas are welcome.

What did you decide on originally? Walk on the trails and go to garganta del diablo.
