Flight options.

There is 2 Airports serving Iguassu (Iguazu, Iguaçu) Falls, IGU on the Brazilian side and IGR on the Argentinian side.
See here for a map of airports connecting to IGU and IGR  forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=3052.msg1363094#msg1363094

When searching for award availability search first to connecting  airports as for example, from NYC VIA Brazil search

LAN thru Lima Peru (cheapest option usually) Oneworld (BA Shows Lan)
JFK-GIG  on Tam (BA.com) and/or AA (AA.com)
JFK- GRU AA, Delta
EWR-GRU UA
COPA airlines flies thru Panama City and GRU (usually 2 stops)

Argentina options

Aerolineas Argentina JFK-EZE
LAN Argentina

Hotels
Belmont in the Brazilian side of the park
Sheraton Iguazu in the Argentina side of the park. (SPG)
Park Hyatt Iguacu Falls coming soon!

Major Activities

The Argentinian side is more up-close and personal.
You will need to walk both the upper and lower trail on the Argentina side. The upper will take about an hour, the lower about 2. Make sure to do the boat ride on the lower trail for the most awesome views. You will get soaked so take along a ziplock for your camera. You can also take the train to Devils point

The Brazillian side is more of a panorama view.
On the Brazil side at the falls there is less walking as you are not next to the falls like on the Argentina side but rather across the river from them. You will take a tram to the start of the trail on the Brazil side and just walk along side the falls, starting from the pink hotel till the end. When you get to the end is when you will be totally blown away. Walk out on the boardwalk and you will get the most amazing view of the falls.

Bird park well worth about an hour

Helicopter tour on the Brazillian side (Argentina band it as its not Eco friendly)

There is a  huge dam you can tour that powers all of Paraguay and huge portions of Brazil and Argentina

Airport Transfer Options

Cabs are available at fairly cheap from both airports to the park and hotels (cross border too)

Does anyone know if there are wheelchairs (or some other accommodation for the handicapped) available by the falls?

Yes. Nearly all the walkways are wheelchair accessible.

according to the website there seems to be wheelchairs or electric carts http://www.iguazuargentina.com/en/accesibilidad/
alternatively call the hotels (which ever side you;re on, Belmond for Brazil, Sheraton for Argentina)

Really cool! This is the first Intercontinental route from either IGR or IGU. Useless for those in the States, but super useful for those in Israel or Europe. The only downside is its Air Europa.

Ramps probably. They won't have a gate for a bigger plane.

We are going to Iguazu in December.  For the Argentina side, I saw that there were three hiking loops which appears to take maybe two hours each.  Have people done the three circuits (upper, lower and Devils throat) in one day?  Are all three loops worth doing?  We are staying in the park so we can get an early start.

Thank you for your reply. This is very helpful for planning. We will try to do all three but I will suggest one member of the group skip one of the circuits.  If we had to skip one, would you recommend skipping the upper or lower circuit?

Maybe you missed a decimal point or added an extra 0 by mistake? Each of the upper and lower loops take 20 minutes max, and that's going slowly. You can do them all in an hour if you want, max. Devils throat is a bit farther than the other two, with a train taking you there. From the trail head, it's maybe 10 minutes each way. I'd estimate an hour or two for Devil's Throat if there are lines for the train and lots of crowds.

There's no need to skip them. They're both short loops. If you wanted to skip one maybe I would skip the upper loop, as the devil's throat is also on the top so you can have a small understanding of seeing the waterfalls from above over there. The lower loop is the only one where you get to see the bottom of the falls up close and personal.

This is very helpful.  Not sure why I assumed they were longer. Very insightful and thank you.

no way they are much longer
skip the lower loop, it's longer than the upper (this is how i remember it... website below  disagrees

lower circuit is 1700 meters and recommended time is 1:45
upper is 1750 and recommended time is 2:00
devils throat is 2200 meters and recommended time is 2 hours

Way too long in IGU and GIG.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
