Flight options.

There is 2 Airports serving Iguassu (Iguazu, Iguaçu) Falls, IGU on the Brazilian side and IGR on the Argentinian side.
See here for a map of airports connecting to IGU and IGR  forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=3052.msg1363094#msg1363094

When searching for award availability search first to connecting  airports as for example, from NYC VIA Brazil search

LAN thru Lima Peru (cheapest option usually) Oneworld (BA Shows Lan)
JFK-GIG  on Tam (BA.com) and/or AA (AA.com)
JFK- GRU AA, Delta
EWR-GRU UA
COPA airlines flies thru Panama City and GRU (usually 2 stops)

Argentina options

Aerolineas Argentina JFK-EZE
LAN Argentina

Hotels
Belmont in the Brazilian side of the park
Sheraton Iguazu in the Argentina side of the park. (SPG)
Park Hyatt Iguacu Falls coming soon!

Major Activities

The Argentinian side is more up-close and personal.
You will need to walk both the upper and lower trail on the Argentina side. The upper will take about an hour, the lower about 2. Make sure to do the boat ride on the lower trail for the most awesome views. You will get soaked so take along a ziplock for your camera. You can also take the train to Devils point

The Brazillian side is more of a panorama view.
On the Brazil side at the falls there is less walking as you are not next to the falls like on the Argentina side but rather across the river from them. You will take a tram to the start of the trail on the Brazil side and just walk along side the falls, starting from the pink hotel till the end. When you get to the end is when you will be totally blown away. Walk out on the boardwalk and you will get the most amazing view of the falls.

Bird park well worth about an hour

Helicopter tour on the Brazillian side (Argentina band it as its not Eco friendly)

There is a  huge dam you can tour that powers all of Paraguay and huge portions of Brazil and Argentina

Airport Transfer Options

Cabs are available at fairly cheap from both airports to the park and hotels (cross border too)

Wow, those look like amazing pics.  The helicopter ride seems worth it to me.  It sounds like everything could be done in 2 days: one day in Argentina, one in Brazil.  Yeah?

How did you get around? Taxi? How much did it cost?

Yes one day on each side will be enough time. Took taxis must have been around 50 dollars from one side to the other I don't recall. I had the Sheraton get me a private guy to take me around for the whole day forgot what I paid, wasn't that much. Just ask by the hotel and tell them you want it cheap, not some limo and they will get the point. The doormen know all the right ppl.

Sounds like a plan.  What did you do in terms of food?

I brought food from the US to Paraguay and Iguazu which was 3 days. I then went to BA for 4 days so got food there, and bought food in BA for Peru where I spent a week. I then flew to Rio from Lima Peru and brought the food I had bought in BA with me. There are a few places to buy kosher groceries in Rio and we went to 3 different restaurants there so that was not a problem. Of the 3 places one is only open Sunday, the other on Thursday night only, and they cater for Shabbos meals which we bought. The 3rd place a really good pizza shop in Copacabana is always open.

All I have to do is wait until August the book the tickets from Iguaçu to Rio I am all set. Even though it's six months away I can't wait!

Just out of curiosity, why did you go in August? I read the weather is not that good (ie rainy) then. Clearly you had nice weather in the pictures, but isn't it generally not great? Do you know about the early November weather?

Lokos like a great trip, but it will probably be sweltering in Iguazu in November.

When would you go? I can always change the dates. Keep in mind we will be going to BA and Rio too.

I'd think you'd be better off in a shoulder season like September, but that's not possible this year with all the holidays coming early.

I know, that's when I wanted to go. The I tried early October (after yom tov), but the award tickets disappeared before I could book them. Then I tried mid October, but there were no awards on LAN (via British Airways) from Buenos Aires to Iguazu Falls when we wanted. That left leaving in the end of October and being in Iguazu Falls at the beginning of November (3-5). From what I saw online, it looks like the temperatures will be in the high 80's and lows in the low 70's, but almost no rain.

High 80s plus 100% humidity.
Think Miami in July, but walking around outside all day without AC.

Oh :( It's only going to be for 2 days. Not that Rio will be much better. How's the weather there at the beginning of November?

Rio is nice year-round. Beautiful city but the kosher situation stinks.
Sao Paulo has some good eats and an amazing warm jewish community, but lacks touristy stuff.

That's why I chose Rio (that and Fan if Dan's strong suffestions). We'll only be there 2 days as well so we won't need much. Plus well bring stuff from BA.

If it's so hot in November in Iguazu , wouldn't it be less touristy?

Iguazu had great weather in August, BA was a bit cold and rainy but there's not much there in terms of nature anyways. Rio was great because was not humid and mid 80's. We also did Peru which is best in July/ August

That makes sense. I'm not a fan of rain on vacation. Hopefully when I'm going will be rain free in BA, Iguazu, and Rio.

What do you think of this? If it's accurate it doesn't look too bad.

I doubt you'll be able to. Nobody wants pesos.  Just use an ATM card if you need cash.
