Flight options.

There is 2 Airports serving Iguassu (Iguazu, Iguaçu) Falls, IGU on the Brazilian side and IGR on the Argentinian side.
See here for a map of airports connecting to IGU and IGR  forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=3052.msg1363094#msg1363094

When searching for award availability search first to connecting  airports as for example, from NYC VIA Brazil search

LAN thru Lima Peru (cheapest option usually) Oneworld (BA Shows Lan)
JFK-GIG  on Tam (BA.com) and/or AA (AA.com)
JFK- GRU AA, Delta
EWR-GRU UA
COPA airlines flies thru Panama City and GRU (usually 2 stops)

Argentina options

Aerolineas Argentina JFK-EZE
LAN Argentina

Hotels
Belmont in the Brazilian side of the park
Sheraton Iguazu in the Argentina side of the park. (SPG)
Park Hyatt Iguacu Falls coming soon!

Major Activities

The Argentinian side is more up-close and personal.
You will need to walk both the upper and lower trail on the Argentina side. The upper will take about an hour, the lower about 2. Make sure to do the boat ride on the lower trail for the most awesome views. You will get soaked so take along a ziplock for your camera. You can also take the train to Devils point

The Brazillian side is more of a panorama view.
On the Brazil side at the falls there is less walking as you are not next to the falls like on the Argentina side but rather across the river from them. You will take a tram to the start of the trail on the Brazil side and just walk along side the falls, starting from the pink hotel till the end. When you get to the end is when you will be totally blown away. Walk out on the boardwalk and you will get the most amazing view of the falls.

Bird park well worth about an hour

Helicopter tour on the Brazillian side (Argentina band it as its not Eco friendly)

There is a  huge dam you can tour that powers all of Paraguay and huge portions of Brazil and Argentina

Airport Transfer Options

Cabs are available at fairly cheap from both airports to the park and hotels (cross border too)

Meh. Would've been better had I brought the tripod.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Sneak peak into the next installments of the Brazil TR ;) Nice that you got whitish water when you were there, fall and winter are very dirty.

I booked NYC-IGU-NYC for $480 AND NYC-EZE-IGU-NYC for $630.

Trying to decide whether to cancel one or both......

I have plenty of Avios and UR points.

Any recommendations?

Why cancel? If you can do both go for it.

They are booked during same dates. I need to pick one.

I suppose I would choose the $480 option if I could use points to do another intra-continent trip for a few days.

I didn't have any luck searching with Avios or UA..

PUTPAC BA. For intra-Brazil flight from IGU you can search on BA and PUTPAC to book, for IGR to AEP you will have to PUTPAC.

+1, there seemed to be tons of availability, especially within 3 months.

Value-wise is using points a better deal than paying the extra $150 for the 3 day EZE stop?

It would only be better to spend $150 is you value BA at $0.02, which is really high. Anything less and Avios are cheaper.

Yeah, but you get to avoid a stop with this way. I would just keep the $630. Not worth the hassle to find and book availability to save a few dollars and have an extra stop

-1. I would pay $150 over using 15k avios points. I value my points at over 1cpp.

That too. So for both reasons would do the $630.

I hear you. It's definitely more convenient to keep the $630 and not have to worry about finding availability with avios, but also keep in mind that you'd have to get back to EZE which is less convenient that AEP. Also, at 1.5cpp 7500 Avios is $112.50 which is cheaper than $150 but might not be worth the hassle.
