Booked Sheraton Waterside Norfolk and Aloft Chesapeake for a family of ten. Ages,
21+= 3
10-13= 2
3-9= 4
0-3= 1
What's the concensus?
I mean that the under 21 people cant check in alone...I think its due to the mini bars, but you shouldnt have any problem
If you think nobody cares about you... just forget to pay your credit card bill

Be aware that some hotels are only 21 and over and they technically could make a problem

though they have never stopped me B4

Firstly, add the guest that's checking into the hotel as an additional guest in the special request section while booking.

As per a conversation with SPG yesterday:
On a prepaid (cash) room, the hotel requires the guest that payed for the room to be present while checking in. If the room is booked with points, then anyone can check in, provided they are on the reservation as an additional guest (regardless of age).

The additional guest checks in with a credit card in his/her name. It doesn't have to match the account holder's cc that is on the reservation.

I'm a complete n00b, so a bit confused - at least in NY, the "cash and points" doesn't seem to be a very good deal...are there guidlines for when it's a good deal, or how to get a good deal with them?

Depends on the category of the hotel.

Ah - so basically, the lower categories are a good deal, the higher ones...not. And in NYC, there tends to be only higher category Starwood hotels.

So in NYC, it would be better to use just points (which, just to check, is what they refer to by "free night," correct?)?

Does anyone have experience/suggestions regarding transferring UR points to other hotel programs, and if any are good deals?

it really depends, I try to get at least 2 cents per point, but it depends on what you value them at

Mobile link... 25% bonus

If you need to top off an SPG account you can buy the 20,000 points option for $0.026 a point. Not cheap but maybe for some its worth it

true -- it may be worth it if you need to use your spg Amzex card to meet a threshold. Plus, will you get SPG points for the purchase price too, if charged on the spg amex?
