Is it like hertz president.... (they say they do but never actually do...)
Nope. Its like SPG gold :)
I've always found them to be extremely accommodating when it comes to gold upgrades. I have gotten upgraded to an executive suite from a standard room many times even though they are only required to upgrade you tot he next level (ie - deluxe room)

We could have switched it on the spot, as we've done in the past.
That still doesn't answer my question.

If I pay using a credit card other than my Amex SPG card at a SPG hotel for a room that's booked under my account, do I still get the 3x Platinum bonus?

I would imagine not. How would that work? SPG would give you 3x UR points?

They would give me 3x straight to my SPG account.

Basically you are implying that the 3x Platinum bonus is attached to the Amex credit card not the SPG account?

That's why i asked. It doesn't say anywhere on the SPG website that you need to use an Amex SPG credit card.

When you are platinum you get 3 points per eligible dollar spent to your SPG account. If you are using the SPG AMEX you will get an additional 2 points per dollar through AMEX essentially giving you 5 Points per dollar spent

I booked the St Regis Bahia Beach. Based on my checkin date there was a 4 night stay requirement. I only plan to stay for 3 nights.

Best way to cancel 4th night and get back 30k SPG?

Any way to do it before checking in?

Did. They told me that it's a 4 night requirement and responsible for the 4th night. Hence the question.
