Looking to book a Shabbos Sheva Berachos for around 100 ppl in the tristate area, I was told by Sheraton that company policy is not to allow points for large gatherings etc.. Anyone ever hear of that?

not at all they actually are supposed to give points for people booking groups from my understanding. but there is a limit to the # of points you can get based on your status

I believe the question is about using points to book the rooms.

The platinum alone with its airline credits, Amex offers, free GE, spg gold and more makes the entire AF basically vanish.

yes but is it worth it to go through all the trouble of applying for the card, doing pggm just to get spg gold when all you need to do is use 12K spg? I dont think so. And again if you dont have upcoming stays then leave it alone. no use accumulating status if you're not gonna use it. Especially since no one knows what will happen to SPG once the merger is complete

Again all that is nice but if you just want SPG gold easily and all you have to do is spend 12K spg or apply for a platinum card I would just go the SPG route. If you also need MR and lounge access and global entry and dont mind adding another pull then yea definitely apply for the platinum!

It is not worth the time to put 12k on that card for SPG Gold.
