I did a stay some 18 months ago at a Starwood property but never claimed the miles, to be more precise I'm not even a member! Forgive my ignorance but can I still claim?

When I first opened an SPG account years ago I tried to get credit for a stay a few months earlier. It was past the cutoff date but they just manually gave me the credit.

Made a mistake and need your guys advice. I booked a night in the st Regis Miami and the same night in the w fll thinking I was going to cancel st Regis. I didn't realize cancelation date for both was last week. I called to cancel and they said they can cancel the reservations but its up to he hotel if they want to give points back.

Anyone have experience getting points back?

go to your SPG acct and there is a link to cancel and the points are automatically re-deposited into your SPG. You usually can cancel anywhere within 4-48 hrs and no penalties.

Can you call and explain? Today, they may give back points without a fee. They can still sell room.
Tomorrow they may not.

Have SPG call the hotel and explain that you by mistake made a duplicate reservation for that night. They are usually accommodating and will give you the points back "as a one time courtesy". Just don't make a habit of doing it.
Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.

If I call and they say no will they force me to cancel and pay cancelation fee? Can I tell them if they can't cancel I'm giving it to a friend? Is that legal?
