in the past, the Plat status got you the plat room/Club Floor upgrade. This automatically gives your room keys the access to the Club Floor in the elevator and the same room cards allow you to swipe to gain access into the club lounge. If you ask for 3 room keys when you arrive, then that would work the same. We enjoyed the plat status access to the quieter and emptier club lounges while it lasted. Great food and free drink selection, a private "living room" that was empty during the super bowl, and a good place to use computers and printers for business for free when needed.
oh i see. tx

how many guests would i be able to take in with me to the lounge?

Technically it's the primary cardholder and one registered guest staying in the  same room.  As always, YMMV

So 210 stays/nights in 10 years. If you do 21 weekend 1 night stays a year for the next 10 years at a Cat 1 (2k SPG per night), that's 420k SPG for Lifetime Platinum.

If you churn multiple business cards yearly its more

You should
ETA: Did you add the plat SPG number to reservation?

They did not let us do that in FL. Both of were present, but day 1 was a non-plat reservation while Days 2-5 were plat reservations.
They didn't even let us go to the club lounge until my plat reservation applied the next day. This was even while we were both there, in FL staying in the same room...

Of course they wont allow it if it was booked from a non-plat account. I was implying that if it was booked using a plat account you can get the benefits even if you are not the accountholder

Why did you do that and not the opposite - have the non-plat day at the end of the stay?

How does it work with gold?  Do they actually upgrade?  What about if the person staying isn't the actual account holder?

If its available then definitely. You don't need to be the account holder.

We could have switched it on the spot, as we've done in the past.
This FL location had just finished Yeshiva Week and perhaps they were overworked -- the lady at the counter had zero interest in working to accomodate the situation.
