if you call the front desk of the actual hotel (not a calling center) then they will give it to you.

Not officially. However, they may be willing to adjust it manually and give you the point difference, for any random date in the future. Then you take it from there...

Any SPG Plat want me to add their SPG number to an upcoming 5 night reservation? I'm SPG Gold, with no chance of getting to Plat - so I'll gladly trade the stay credit for Plat benefits. Staying on a points reservation for 5 nights in May at the SLS Beverly Hills. Would it work for you to get the stay credit, and I get the Plat benefits? Or would that only work for a paid reservation?

How are you going to add someone else's SPG number to a ressy booked with points out of your account? Is that possible?

That's what I am asking in the post above - if that is possible. I could try to call SPG..."I made a reservation, my friend/partner will be joining me and he's a Plat, can I add him to the resv to make sure we get his PLat benefits?"

Alternatively, someone PM'd me, to change my account to their address, Xfer the points to them, and then have them make the reservation under their name. Thoughts on that approach?

In regard to the 2nd option, did he explain how he'd plan to transfer the points? They are usually only transferable to people in the same household...

Interesting....that's why he suggested that I had to change the address on my account to his home address. But he also said it had to be done more than 30 days before the arrival date (we are just at 30 or 31 now)

You could hold a reservation now even if you don't have the points yet?

FWIW I got upgraded there as a gold member.
