I'm SPG plat until 2/2018, but have 9 more nights to go until Plat-50. The main benefit of Plat-50 is the 10 Suite Night Upgrades.
(Most SPG stays i get a free suite upgrade, but when traveling with the family, it's more mandatory.)

1) Is it possible to buy a SUNs for 2017 instead? Are they transferrable?

2) If I have another SPG card from a relative at my home address with 5-10 nights, then are those nights transferable?

So if it is outside the free cancellation window it can't be changed to a different type of reservation?
You'll need putpac and possibly Huca. It's likely up to the hotel

There is 1 way for any hotel to avoid cancellation fees
PM me for details if still relevant

if your acct shows plat status today, then it is valid today on stay-upgrades and on 3-points-per-dollar spending.
This new plat status is good for the next 14 months, until February 2018.

tx meaning it doesn't matter per calendar year just goes by 14 month block.

it goes by calendar year. Your 25 stays (or your 50 total nights) need to be complete by December 31, 2016 in order to maintain SPG plat status for the following 14 months.

Unless you are in a huge rush to meet plat, it can be easier and cheaper to have 25 stays in 12 months, because even free stays (with points) and also C&P count towards 25 SPG stays.

It's only 7 stays more, and you have an additional 8 months to complete it.

Does anyone know the Hashgocha in the Sheraton Tel Aviv Kum Kum restaurant? Dairy and Meat?  Anyone ever do the shabbos meals there?

1) If I book reservation on spouse's name, will that be an issue upon check in? (Revenue )
2) They have a good AAA deal, how strict are they usually in asking for the AAA card? Do they verify that its still active?

You can call in to add the spouse's name to the reservation. They always ask for ID upon check-in. A spouse is fine if listed as the additional person.

It is hit or miss. Usually they don't ask to see AAA they care more about ID matching name on res.

Anyone with experience at the Westin Newport in Jersey city, regarding using a SNA and getting Plat benefits without the platinum member actually being there?

(Obviously his name would be on the ressy, and would tell them he's coming later, but I understand some properties started giving a hard time this, specifically W Hoboken, and Sheraton Eatontown)

Sherraton Eatontown won't give Plat Bennys if Plat member doesn't come with ID?

Didn't say they "always" make issues..
