+1 figured as such...
so maybe a priceline 'low' up front quote is what they''ll match..

I still see Cash&Points and spg points as being worthwhile - even the $3.95 vr X 14 card for a 7,000 point room is $55.30
which is good for a decent back-up room for travel. (+ free Gold/Plat upgrade)

Definitely won't match on a priceline bid

Whats the best way to find availability for "cash & points"?

There might be a simpler way than this but this how I do it.
On the spg home page search for hotels in the city that the hotel you want to stay at is in, (put in any dates for the check in and check out). It should take you to a page that lists all the starwood hotels in that city. Underneath the hotel name there's a calendar with an option to browse rates/dates.

I wake up today to find some extra starwood points in my account. One set was credited as " goodwill starpoints manual ccc" from a recent stay I had. The other was also credited as goodwill starpoints manual from a stay at a hotel in Dallas which I've never been to.
Any chance they won't take them back? Did this ever happen to anyone else?

Anybody else have this... Basically I added a night to my reservation and for done reason spg counted as 2 stays. One stay for 2 nights and one stay for 1 night. It was supposed be one long stay. Now I have a extra stay towards platnium. I wish u would have split all 3.

Try emailing the property manager. Mention how you would like to try and confirm a  suite and don't see an option online.

Yes - with Cash and Points the tax is charged on the cash portion,
plus there is a CA occupancy fee of close to $50 at some hotels,
(and a nightly valet parking fee... $$$).
But no tax/charges when it's all points.  :)
To be clear, they still charge for valet, which is usually at least $30/night!!

Yes. The valet is often a company that is separate from the hotel.  In LA, valet at the SPGs are usually $36-$39 per night.

How can i findout
i've looked at the spg.com site and called the Gold Member phone number. They are usually good at the English language and helpful.
They can also go into your spg acct and take care of the points transfer for you, if needed.
Here, I found it: Gold Preferred Guest 1-888-625-4990 (Toll free number)

Starwood's terms and conditions state that a maximum of three rooms on one night can be credited in a single hotel per account. My question is since I am taking out 5 rooms and need as many stays as possible to reach status, would it be a possible workaround by making two separate reservations and confirmation numbers?  would like to hear from anyone with personal experience. Thanks.
