Just curious, you can't change money on the black market for those rates in Recoleta only in Once? Why would I need to get from the hotel to Once immediately, or do you just mean in general?

All the jewish stores are in Once and they all pounce on dollars like hot cakes.  I wouldn't know where to buy them in Recoleta.

Also it's extremely volatile, so if you're not going for a while you may want to hold off.  Here are the current rates:

They have a limit at the airport. Find out how much the limit is before buying ARS so as to not get stuck.

Apparently the limit is 0.
If you don't have an official receipt you can't get rid of Pesos.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. I'll hold of on buying till later. When the time comes do you know where I can buy some before our trip? I've seen the rate going up in our favor. Who knows, it might be over 10 by then.

Best bet is probably find someone going to EZE before you.  Otherwise suck it up and buy enough for the taxi.

I guess that'll have to do. The taxi costs about ARS185? Thats what I saw on www.taxifarefinder.com. I hope this trip you're will have a TR. It might give me more ideas of what to do while we're down there.

I assume you're going to be in Argentina for longer than one night, just not BA. Why fly all that way for such a short time? A simcha?

I already checked. No national holidays when I'm there besides the Muslim new year on Nov 5 which isn't a national holiday.

I assume "complicated" means like Bangkok: just need to know which cab companies you can trust and which ones you can't.

Many stores in BA will pay 9 ARS per dollar. Maybe even more.
What's stopping me from converting all my USD into ARS and changing it back into USD at the airport?

Prob a 30 minute walk or 25 peso cab.
Most of the jewish stores (I did it in several bakeries, bookstores, and grocery stores) will switch for you.

Most stores are a bit scared to switch, I was able to switch in a Ice Cream store for 7.9. They are saying that the government is trying to crack down on them.  I will try harder today to get like 8.5!
