Thanks a lot. I will have to work on some spanish I guess:)

How does kashrus work there (in BA) in general- are there certain hechsherim I need to know, or are most the regular establishments discussed here under a vaad? and more specifically, PH says they order from OpenKosher- anyone know if that's good (still trying a little to get something covered by diamond breakfast, hopeless as it seems)?

I don't really know how it works in general. All I know is that the main hashgacha (Ajdut Kosher) is good. They certify all the restaurants and a lot of the food you can find in regular stores (such as Alfajores).  I only bought food from kosher stores (where the whole store was under AK) so it wasn't an issue.

They even have an app for Android and iOS with all the kosher products, but it won't help you much if you can't at least read spanish. Many products don't have hechsherim on them which is why the app comes in handy.

what are the good options for using cell phone in BA (preferably something that will work in Rio too)? are cheap sim cards with decent plans available? or something I should arrange before?

Have you looked into T-Mobile? It's really not that expensive and works great in both countries.

I read in a few places that people have had issues using  T Mobile in Argentina. Has your experience been good?

No problems whatsoever.  I used it in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. In Iguazu it actually picked up signals from both sides of the falls, so I kept getting texts welcoming me to the other country.  The reception was excellent though regardless if I was on Argentina's signal or Brazil's.

What have you heard?

Exactly. You'll need to sign up for the Simple Choice plan and bring your own device. I cancelled after 17 days or so and payed just under $50 after taxes. SIM cards are usually $0.99 and sometimes free from tmobile.com.  You'll get a new number, but for vacation who cares. You won't loose your regular number obviously.

Correct, for calls made over mobile network. If you have a phone that can do wifi calling then calls to the US are free over wifi. If you download the Vonage app you can make calls to the US for free even over data, but in my experience (in Italy) the speeds were not normally fast enough to make clear calls.  It worked a lot better over wifi. Texts from/to anywhere are free.

There's a reason we ate there 3 times during our 36 hour trip to EZE last year :D

Trying to finalize some details for upcoming trip, arriving in AEP right before 11am Friday morning. Need to pick up some food for shabbos and hopefully familiarize ourselves with the area a little but will hopefully still have a few hours Friday afternoon- anything suggestions for something to do then? Thinking about just relaxing in the hotel but if something specific made sense maybe we'd do it. Well have all day Sunday there too.
