For those that don't speak Spanish you can take Uber in B.A. and it was a big help not having to tell them where I'm going (it just takes some time for them to show up as there aren't that many)

First ever post, so go easy please! Have lurked and read for a while though so well aware of the scene here (I think).

Looking to go to BsAs towards the end of August for a long week (8/9 days - Fri AM to Sun PM). Seem to have already got the lowdown on the food situation from reading this but looking for other tips of what to do (BsAs and surrounding area), potentially going to IGR (cheapest flights are Mon AM to Wed PM), where to stay (PH looks great but a bit out of ideal budget) and what to do / where to eat or buy in over Shabbos.

That's about it to start with.

First, welcome! Second, I didn't see any question above, but sounds like you're researching all the right things.

Ok - a couple of questions.

Is there enough to do in Igauzu for almost 3 days? (Shorter flights are over double.)

Any recommendations of hotels around $135 / night (or less) that would be decent and also well located for Shabbos (happy to walk within reason)? Admittedly, if the trip was split going to IGR, could stay at 2 places in BA.

Absolutely. 2 days at the falls and the 3'rd day you can visit Itaipu Dam.

+1, or other things in the area. Ideally you don't need that much time, but you won't be bored if you're there for 3.

Can't find shorter flights with miles?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

If he's going to stick to BsAs for the rest of the trip, I think he'd actually be better off spending one more day in Iguazu over BsAs.

No miles at all. Must try harder etc. Any quick short cuts going?! Just looking at Priceline having seen your post and the $ price for flights gives a good saving over the sites I was looking at before (I'm UK).

In terms of days, also potential concern of actually ending up with not much time in BA itself. Arriving Friday AM and leaving Sunday early PM would mean only 2 full days in BA - the middle Sunday and Thursday (which itself would follow a late flight back from IGR.)

2 full days and 3 partial days should be more than enough time.

Coming from a slightly different angle now, has anyone travelled to Patagonia?

Great thread thanks, almost certain to go to Patagonia now (and not IGR).

Thinking something along the lines of Sunday morning EZE-FTE, Tuesday EZE-USH, then back to EZE Weds evening.

Only thing is that this leaves the next day as the only 'full' day in BA but with 2 Fridays and motze shabbos  for sights, I think this should be enough? Just have to plan the restaurant schedule.

Is there anywhere that would do food suitable to take for a 3 day trip in BA or worth bringing long life from home?

Now have flights reserved so becoming a bit more real.

Make sure you're not going in the winter. USH can be super cold and dark. Also check out Bariloche (BRC). It's supposed to be gorgeous.

What time of the year is your trip?

Pretty much exactly a month from now. Yes, I know this is winter and realise it will be cold, especially down South.

In that case I'd definitely chose Iguazu over Patagonia:

1. Weather is the nicest in Iguazu and Patagonia will be cold.
2. A lot of attractions will be closed in Patagonia.
3. You now have an opportunity to visit both sides of the falls without any visas or reciprocity fees.

So, has anyone stayed anywhere else in BsAs (over Shabbos) other than the Park Hyatt? Any recommendations?

I stayed in San Luis Suites right in the center of Once, cheap place and very local.
