I stayed in San Luis Suites right in the center of Once, cheap place and very local.
+1. It's not the PH but it's very nice and convenient. They even supply you with a few things for shabbos.

Had a look and seems like its convenient though looking for more of a hotel in style. Wouldn't mind walking a bit further (or explaining in broken Spanish that I need to use the emergency stairs to get to my room).

Will still keep in mind though. Is there a chabad nearby that does meals or did you order in?

A few good takeouts places right around the corner.

There's no eiruv, so depending on the hotel they may have issues with keys (not electronic issues per se, but they may want you to hold keep they). The San Luis apartments have people on staff 24/7 who watch the key when you go out. We went out to people (friends) for meals, so I can't comment on the quality of the take out, though it is nearby.

Thanks all for the tips, now actually looking like I'll be staying in the PH. Got a good deal so seems like a no brainer.

PH for shabbos was nice. If you go back, or for anyone else going in the summer, I'd definitely recommend a visit to El Calafate. The Perito Moreno big ice trek was amazing.

Good to hear! Plan is Fri - Sun in BA then Sun - Tue in FTE, Tue - Weds in USH, then back to BA until Sun.

Rough Patagonia plan as follows:
Sun PM – Glacier footbridges
Mon – Full day glacier tour, can include boat trip, jeep ride etc, even horseback(!)
Tue AM – Jeep trek
Tue PM –  Ushuaia night adventure
Wed AM – End of the World train

Will do some googling to find local booking companies / rates for these though.

Also looking to pick up some food in BA to take with. Unless any place will deliver early Sunday / motze Shabbos, I guess we'll have to stock up on Friday. Alternative being to pack some long life self heating meals from home.

We didn't make it to Ushuaia, but did a day trip to Torres del Paine in Chile. It was a long bus ride, but a beautiful park that we were happy to see since we don't know if/when we'd get back down that far.

Heilo y Aventura ran the Big Glacier Trek. When we were there they were the only ones doing it, not sure if there are other options now.

We did a great horseback ride trip with Cerro Frias. They drove us about 2 hours out of town where we rode on a mountain with great views of Lago Argentino and the Andes.

Thanks for that. So much to do there, could easily spend weeks there.

Did anyone stay at the Four Seasons in BA? Already booked the PH but thinking of splitting between the two for variety.

I'd guess not, since they don't have a points program.

Ah, interesting. Well it would cost me $10 a night more than the PH hence that's now something to consider.

Seeing as you're paying cash either way it comes down to which location is more convenient in my mind. Why switch in the middle if the FS is more inconvenient?

He's going to split his time in BsAs anyway by traveling to Patagonia.

Still location makes a difference sometimes. My concern wasn't entirely over schlepping to another hotel.

Location will really only make a difference on Shabbos and the difference between the PH and FS to the nearest Chabad is 10mins, which is negligible. If we do head over to the main Jewish areas then it will be a longer walk anyway so difference of 35-45mins shouldn't matter either.

Have people walked from the Jewish areas back to Recoleta on a Friday night?

In that case... FS?

Still need to confirm with FS but will try to book the FS for the final 4 nights and stick with PH for the beginning.

Has anyone on DDF booked an intra-Argentina fare intended for locals only?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Can you book without a DNI?

I've booked hotel rooms at local prices, not airfare.
