In terms of shabbos, which are better located for walking to shul/meals and for just walking around and sightseeing?
I believe your best bet for Shabbos is the Sheraton with this Chabad House about a mile away from it.
not sure about sightseeing in that area as to what i recall there's only a port that ships containers in that area
If you like walking and are willing to walk about 3 miles you have other options.
+1 there might be more to see, just if its within the next month it might be too hot.

Thanks for the advice. We are definitely up for walking 3 miles on shabbos - especially if the weather is nice.
We'll do more research as we get closer to the trip.

what does everyone do about this crazy 131 dollar entry fee into BA for Americans? Are there any ways around it if I fly in from the Argentian side of Iguazu falls?

I was thinking of that, I anyways must check out Uruguay once I am down there, and was planning a day trip to Colonia so may just pay. Is the ferry a complicated thing down there?

I read on Lonely Planet that if you fly from the argentinian side of Iguazu falls to BA then you avoid paying as it is a domestic flight. As per my tentative plan I will start off in Brazil at then make my way down from Iguazu.

These are the two top kosher restaurants in BA.
http://www.tucsonrestaurante.com.ar
http://www.asiankosher.com

Enjoy buenos aires as the most european-style city in South America.
Check out the port "Puerto Maderos" lined with cafes, hotels and shops, check out "Florida" an all pedestrian street with artisans and flee markets after sunset.
Take a boat ride at Tigre's Delta river, and enjoy a picnic or BBQ by the water.
Don't forget to stop for a bite at the only Kosher McDonald's in the world at the Abasto shopping mall.
Enjoy more than 20 kosher restaurants in Buenos Aires.
Fly north to the Iguazu waterfalls. Cross over to Brazil to see a different view. Take a boat ride and/or helicopter ride. While you're there enjoy the bird park "Parque das Aves".
Fly south to Calafate (glaciers) and Bariloche (lakes and ski resorts).
While you're in the area, if you have time, check out Punta Del Este, a beautiful beach town in Uruguay.
There's way more to do in BA, this is in a nutshell because I have to run now... Post more later!
So what happened to the "post more later" :)
Would love to hear more on which restaurants are worth going to or skipping, more activities worth doing, which hechsheirim are good, cholov yisroel ice creams, etc. etc.

Well if you can deal with dips bread and chips and other snacks.... Yea. but it's not really like a takeout for Shabbas place, but  they do have some meat in the freezer ( been there a year ago so things could have changed)

I'd still need to find a place for the other stuff, just wondering if it's worth an extra stop to go there.

Also, am I making a mistake by planning to go places by taxi (or metro?) instead of renting my own car?
