People have no problem showing off their credit card churns, grammar, how many airports they've been to etc; etc; why would this or should this be any different.

There is nothing wrong with someone feeling good that he finished masechtos. On the contrary there is nothing worse than being am-ha'aretz.

Why barring daf yomi?

Generally a lot of people learning Daf Yomi are not "really" learning the masechto and thus are not "really finishing" the masechto. Obviously this is not true for you 

If someone really feels as if they've learnt the masechto, they can most deffinitely post.

 Particularly, in an anonymous forum. I was told that the Chafetz Chiam says that a person who gives should tzedakah should allow people t know he gave so that others will be inspired to give as well.
