I am actually thinking of booking two days there as well as I am heading in for business. I spoke to the shliach there about food and hotel will heat up anything as long as it is packed properly(double wrapped etc).

Thank you for the response. Good to know!

Looking at Jamaica as a potential destination for a vacation in February. What are the best mileage redemption options NYC to Jamaica? Any premium cabins worth a look?

Is there any concern of safety when visiting Jamaica as a jewish tourist?

From my experience, not at all. Jamaicans love Jews. though it might not save you if you're white :)

Not at all. I rented a car and had no issues at all and drove from MoBay to Negril etc. People were friendly and only got upset when I refused ganga but otherwise pretty fun.

As a general rule it seemed ppl were friendly. Most ppl refer to the Rastas as being dangerous at times ( not more so to Jews) if you stick to the suggested areas you will not have any issues

I brought in deli and the likes with no issues stayed at the Hyatt in Montego Bay besides for the room door I think it was shabbos friendly  the main areas are very open and don't have electric doors. Hotel was absolutely amazing. Also being that it's an all inclusive you can ask them for anything on shabbos i.e. Drinks and snacks without any issues ( I would call and check to make sure the rooms don't have sensors and the likes that turn on and off lights as well as the toilets bc I don't remember from they were electric.

Which Hyatt were you describing?  I see there are two:  Ziva and Zilara.  BTW did they give you any discount on price since you were not eating meals there?

We used a Hyatt sign up night, I stayed at the zilara which is right next door to ziva. Actually when we got there we decided to see if they would get us food so we put them in touch with the Chabad shliach who told them that he was out of food at the moment and was not given enough of a heads up to be able to get. That being said its ymmv but seemed like they were going to get food for us from Chabad

One is no children. I stayed at Ziva and had a great view with a small pool outside the room. No discount on food for me but shliach hooked me up nicely. One of the chefs at the Hyatt freelances for him. The Chabad House isn't too far from Hyatt either. If you need any help let me know. Heading back there in a few months.

It's not very seasonal there. It's warm year round but not unbearable. Rather comparable to Miami.

Does it make sense to rent a car in Jamaica? What are the pros and cons?
I will be staying in Montego Bay. Any point in traveling to Negril for nicer snorkeling?
