I thought you said you went to Luminous Lagoon which is in Falmouth about 30 minutes from MBJ. Blue Lagoon is in Port Antonio about 3 hours away. I guessing you are just mixing the two up or I need to lay off the funny stuff. Luminous Lagoon is only 4-8ft deep. I was able to stand up in spots without going under.

Someone else is responding for me  :)

We did indeed go to Luminous Lagoon, however we were not able to stand. A boat took us out in the middle and we had to tread to stay afloat.

Same here. Maybe there are shallow spots - but not where we went.

No trip report - but I've stayed in both. There's no way out of the all inclusive so it is bit of a waste of money. The S hotel in Mobay will be your best choice if you want just a nice hotel without paying for food. At the Hyatts, when I went off season and had a butler room for a reasonable price, the service was fantastic and they supplied me with fresh cut fruit (delicious mango and avocado) whenever we wanted. They were happy to warm up meals (which we got from Chabad), though they didn't follow instructions and treifed up all our Shabbos food. Facilities are very nice and many pools and water activities all included. There is Kosher cereal and yogurt at breakfast to go with the fruits.

I just got back from an amazing vacation in Jamaica.
I am not going to write a full trip report but will detail some information below. Feel free to ask questions.
Travelling to Rosa Hall this Thursday(11/21). What is the best way to get to resort from MBJ. Taxi? Shuttle?
Thanks.

  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Where you staying? Most likely taxi will run $30 after 30 minutes of arguing.  :)

If you have questions about the Hyatt I can answer but don't do trip reports.

I am hop fully going to Jamaica in January. Has anyone stayed in the Kingston area and has any recommendations of places to stay? Also has anyone got a permit to bring in meat? Was it hard to get?

Thanks!

There's a Courtyard by Marriot that is ok by US standards. The Pega4us is the fancy local hotel and ok as well. The Spanish Court is very nice but a little out of the way of main area of New Kingston. The meat import is a bit of a hassle but I did it and was able to bring in meat. Other choices is seeing if you can get Chabad to send food to Kingston and taking your chances...  but if you're stopped you probably will have it taken away.
