renting a car near NYC - good advice

Maybe some of you know this, but for those (like me) who like to save, keep on reading.

I was in the market looking for a car for a week, and the prices in NY were over 300 a week (with using all the coupon and maises)

Anyway, I stumbled upon Scarsdale, NY -  and there the prices were MUCH cheaper.

I booked a car from biudget for $145 (and would have been $20 cheaper with prepay)

Even Avis was very cheap, for like $165.

So, if you're ready to shlep out there (45 min drive from brooklyn, 1.15 hr train ride), this might save you a lot of money...

Good point. I rented from Budget in Lynnbrook LI (not far, and right near a LIRR station) and saved a ton too.
Other places I have looked into include NJ, but pricing was not as good, and transportation less accessible.

lynbrook has the same pricing as inwood it seems that LI which includes inwwod ,lynbrook has one set of pricing while westchester which includes new rochell ,scarsdale, mount vernom has another

Wow this is amazing, just checked hertz in New Rochelle and the price there is $350 for 2 weeks a full size sukkes time!!!!

metro north I think its right by the station and if you do it as two separate weeks you can use two pc codes

most places would require you to bring the car back in

depending on how far you are it may be worth it. for westchester you are probably right that its not worth it
